Primary/Secondary AWPer

Learn about designating Primary/Secondary AWPers in Counter-Strike: Source. Get a good pistol like the Five-SeveN or Tec9 for close range.

Most teams in Counter-Strike: Source do not need more than one or two AWPs (sniper rifles) per round. Because AWPs are not effective at close range and can be difficult to control, equipping an entire team with them is generally not advisable. It is beneficial to assign one or two players to use AWPs during rounds where the team can afford them. Their primary role is to secure kills from a distance, which helps the team execute strategies more effectively.

When purchasing an AWP, remember to also acquire a reliable pistol, such as the Five-SeveN or Tec9, to handle situations that require close-quarters combat.

Consider learning how to AWP if:

• You enjoy using large weapons and achieving immediate results.
• You possess the patience to hold a position and wait for opponents to approach.
• You have observed professional players like JW, Guardian, kennyS, or allu and aspire to a similar role.
