Learn how to take and hold Bombsite A in Counter-Strike: Source. This guide covers T-side approaches via Mid A and Long A, CT spawn advantages, and site defense strategies.

Bombsite A on Cobblestone is unique as it's also the CT spawn zone, meaning the fight for the site often begins off of it. CTs can push down the two lanes leading to A with relative ease before Terrorists (Ts) arrive, gaining significant map control. Ts aiming for A must pry open at least one of these lanes to access the site without complications.

From T spawn, players can head left up the stairs. From there, they can proceed past the Fountain to the Playground, or descend a ladder into Connector. These are the two primary alleys for an A take: Mid A and Long A. Mid A offers more cover for site execution but can be time-consuming to establish control over. Long A is easier to open up and suitable for rushes, but is a disadvantage for Terrorists due to limited cover against CTs, especially AWPing CTs who reach good positions first.

The two lanes are connected via Restrooms, allowing a push through one to potentially liberate the second if CTs are caught off guard. A third exit directly in front of the bombsite can be AWPed down by CTs, requiring caution. Ts can also access Mid via Connector after dealing with aggressive CT pushes. This positions Ts near Restrooms, about two-thirds of the way to the site. The elevated park area, where a Birthday party might be depicted, offers a vantage point to hold and watch the Connector exit for teammates.

The bombsite itself is littered with cover, including boxes, a SWAT Car, and a broken-down Truck. Effective smokes after an entry frag allow for easy plants on the Truck or the edge of the site behind the boxes. Defending the site is challenging, as CTs can retake from Bank or Stairs behind the site, or from Restrooms or Long. Smokes and Molotovs are crucial for preventing retakes.
