Master the UGL in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with expert tips on positioning, cover, and countering enemy tactics. Learn to survive and dominate.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Get Elevated: Aiming from higher ground forces opponents to guess the trajectory of their UGL, making it harder for them to hit you.
  2. 2
Get Covered: Utilize narrow windows or solid cover to force UGLs to travel in difficult directions. Explosions hitting the roof at an upward angle will not kill you. Even if the UGL enters your room, it must directly hit you to detonate.
  3. 3
Get Close: The UGL does not arm within 9.4 meters. Closing the distance prevents splash damage, but be aware that a direct hit is an instant kill (OHOK). Approach at a slight angle to avoid direct hits unless the opponent has exceptional lag compensation.

Characteristics of the Tube:

  • UGLs and Aluminum: Standing directly behind aluminum will result in death. At 3 steps away, you'll survive but take damage. At approximately 5 steps away, you will not take damage. Direct hits (DI) will not penetrate aluminum.
  • UGLs and Chain Link Fences: The blast penetrates chain link fences. Standing directly behind one will result in death. At about 4 steps away, you'll survive with damage. At 6 steps away, you will take no damage.
  • UGLs and Glass (Cars): The blast will destroy cars. Direct hits will penetrate car windows and kill. Typically, only one window will break, with the other showing damage.
  • UGLs and Glass (Buildings): The blast radius does not wrap around building glass. Direct hits will not penetrate building windows.
  • UGLs and Wood: The blast radius does not wrap around wooden frames but will wrap around trees. Direct hits will not penetrate wooden frames or trees.
  • UGL's Arming Length: The UGL arms at a distance equivalent to the span between the first and last pillar near the downed chopper on Crash. Closer than this, it will not arm.
  • UGL's and Roof of Rooms: Explosions hitting a roof at an upward angle will not kill, regardless of proximity.

A.S.A. (Awareness, Speed, Aim/Accuracy):

  • Awareness: Constantly monitor who is using UGLs, how many, and their respawn timers. This is crucial for managing incoming threats. Keep track of the kill feed in the lower-left corner.
  • Speed: Avoid high-traffic and open areas. Move quickly and get into the UGL user's personal space to engage them directly.
  • Aim/Accuracy: If you spot a UGL user, they've likely spotted you. Prioritize headshots to neutralize them before they can fire. This requires fast reflexes and exceptional aim.

Types of UGL Users and Associated Threat Levels:

  • Newbs (Threat Level: Very Low): New to the game, unfamiliar with weapons, maps, and general gameplay.
  • Nubs (Threat Level: Low): Somewhat familiar with the game, can hold their own against average players, but are most comfortable using a UGL against better players.
  • Noobs (Threat Level: Medium): Experienced players who primarily rely on the UGL, often using Overkill UGLs with some proficiency.
  • Pro-Noob (Threat Level: Upper-Medium): Players who have extensively used the UGL, developing a degree of skill but still using it inefficiently. They rarely miss with the UGL.
  • Pro-Piper (Threat Level: High - Incomplete): Possess good knowledge of map spawns, objectives, and initial spawn kill spots. They know how to use... (Source text incomplete)
