Alright, so once you get your Forge upgraded to Level 2, you'll unlock the ability to add engravings to your gear. Think of these as special perks or stat boosts that can really make your equipment shine. You'll start finding them more often once the Forge is at Lv2, so it's a good idea to get that upgrade done early to start collecting them sooner rather than later.

Engravings can do all sorts of cool things. Some are straightforward stat boosts, like increasing your armor-piercing damage, critical hit chance, or general damage output. Others are more conditional, like giving you a bonus when using abilities or when it's nighttime. Then there are the really unique ones, like causing enemies to release poison clouds when they investigate a dead body, or even making it harder for enemies to hear any noises you make. Adding an engraving costs a bit of silver (Mon), but the good news is they aren't consumed when you apply them. You can slap the same engraving onto different types of gear, and you can even overwrite an existing one if you find something better. It's a small silver cost for a significant power boost.

Basically, your blacksmith will be able to make your weapons hit harder and your armor keep you safer. Seriously, getting the Forge to Lv2 early is a game-changer for getting these drops more frequently. When you find a piece of gear you really like, don't hesitate to head back to the Hideout and upgrade it every couple of levels. Trust me, it'll make your life in Japan way easier!
