Discover the best methods for farming Crops, Stone, Wood, and Mon in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Learn about enemy camps, smuggling, contracts, and merchants to upgrade your hideout.

In Assassin's Creed Shadows, Hideout Resources are crucial for building and upgrading structures at your Hideout, providing passive bonuses that can significantly impact gameplay. These resources include Crops, Stone, Wood, and Mon (the game's primary currency). Upgrading your Hideout can increase Scout availability, reduce smuggling costs, and lower weapon and armor upgrade expenses, making resource accumulation easier over time.

Unlike some previous Assassin's Creed titles, resources like Crops, Stone, and Wood are not found scattered in the wild. Instead, they are treated as processed goods with owners. Mon, however, is acquired differently through looting chests, selling items, completing quests, and Contracts.

Farming Crops, Stone, and Wood

The primary methods for obtaining Hideout Resources are:

Enemy Camps and Castles

The most direct way to acquire resources is by raiding enemy-controlled areas. Enemy camps and castles are marked on your map and are rich in stockpiled materials. Castles often require defeating a commanding Samurai Daisho, which also grants access to a legendary chest.

Smuggling

After completing the mission From Spark to Flame, you gain access to your first scout and the quest Smuggler’s Run. To smuggle resources, raid a camp or castle, locate a locked storeroom, and find the key (often carried by enemies). Once inside the storeroom, you can assign scouts to smuggle the resources. After a season change, your scouts will return with a significant amount of the assigned materials. Having Stables Lv2 reduces the scout cost for smuggling.

Contracts

Contracts, available at a Kakurega, can reward players with large amounts of Crops, Wood, and Stone, in addition to Crafting Materials or Mon. These contracts often involve targeting generic bandit camps, which also contain chests and resources to collect. Contracts refresh each season.

Buying and Selling from Merchants

Resources can be purchased from merchants for 4-15 Mon per unit. While not cost-effective for large stockpiles, you can also sell excess resources to merchants for approximately half their buying price to accumulate Mon.

The most efficient strategy involves checking Contracts for resource-rich offerings and plundering castles and camps. Combining these methods with the smuggling system allows for simultaneous resource acquisition from multiple sources.
