Flower 5 (17)

Follow this guide to find Flower 5 in Yoshi's Island DS, including how to beat the piranha plants and grab all the red coins. Get those extra lives!

Alright, you've snagged that flower! Now, remember that Key you picked up? Use it to unlock that special room you saw earlier. Inside, there's a fun target shooting game that can net you a couple of extra lives. Go ahead and play around in there until you're ready to move on.

Once you're done, just drop down the pit to the lower area. Head right and use those ropes to swing across, aiming for the egg block. When you land on that platform, you'll see a Shy Guy on stilts. Wait for him to walk all the way to the right, then whip out an egg and throw it to take him out. After that, flutter jump your way up to the upper ledge on the right. Follow the path to the right and then down – you're looking for five red coins here, which will be your first set (15) for this area.

When you land below, make sure to use the Middle Ring to your left to save your progress before heading down the pipe to the right. You'll arrive in a dimly lit room. Hop onto the stilts to your right and start crossing the lava. Feel free to jump and grab any coins you see along the way – they might be red! There's a piranha plant on the ceiling; just ignore it for now. But definitely jump to grab the coins to the right of it, as those are red coins too (17).

Jump off the stilts at the end and bounce up to the higher area. Here, you'll find even taller stilts to use. Continue heading right on these tall stilts, jumping to collect coins and eggs as you go. You'll encounter another piranha plant. To beat it, you need to be quick! Jump straight up and toss an egg at it immediately. If you're fast enough, you'll hit it and defeat it. Keep going right and jump on the Shy Guy to knock him off his perch. Keep an eye out above you – one of the coins there is a red coin (18), so grab it! When you reach the end of this section, go up the pipe to exit the cave.

Back outside, you'll see some fish jumping out of the water. Wait for them to jump, then eat them up! Now, jump to the first ledge on your right, and then make one final jump to grab the last Flower you've been aiming for!
