Learn how to defeat the Mantis Killer and other tough Tyranids in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. This guide covers strategies for the Hive Tyrant and Lictor.
Alright, we're back on this map again, so it's time to wipe the floor with every enemy on it. You're not dealing with too many super tough guys here, and if you head northwest, the enemies are even a bit easier. But hey, we want to clear the whole map anyway, right? Just keep pushing from beacon to beacon. If you haven't grabbed both strategic assets yet, now's the time to do it!
As you push further north, you're going to run into a single, nasty surprise: a Hive Tyrant. These things are incredibly tough, some of the strongest enemies in the game, really giving even a Carnifex a run for its money. Since you can't use melta-bombs against them, you're in a bit of a bind. Whatever you do, don't let it get close to your Dreadnought, or it'll tear it to pieces in seconds. If you've got an orbital strike available, now's the perfect time to use it, or just spam a bunch of grenades its way.
When you finally reach the Lictor, things are going to get even hairier. This guy is fast, zips around the battlefield, and dishes out a ton of damage. Keep your ranged attackers safely behind your Force Commander, letting him keep the Lictor busy in melee while healing himself and your other units. Your Dreadnought can absolutely shred it with its ranged attacks and special abilities. If the Lictor summons any reinforcements, your grenades and Dreadnought can take them all out in one go.
