Alright, so you've hit the level-up screen for your squads in Dawn of War II, and you're seeing these four bars for their stats. Let's break down what they mean so you can start making smart choices.

You've got:

• Health — This is how much damage your squad can take before going down, and how fast it recovers. Pretty straightforward, right?
• Melee — This boosts how hard your squad hits when they're up close and personal.
• Ranged — This is all about how much damage they dish out with guns and other long-range weapons.
• Energy — This determines how much energy your squad has for special abilities and how quickly it recharges. Super important for some squads!

Now, here's the kicker: you're never going to have enough stat points to max out all four of these. Seriously, you'd be lucky to completely fill up just two of them, and even then, you'll have just a few points left over. Because of this, you absolutely need to pick a specialized role for each of your characters. Don't try to make everyone a jack-of-all-trades; it just won't work out.

If you know you're heading into a fight where you'll be swarmed by tons of weak melee enemies, your melee-focused squad will absolutely shred them. Or, if you're facing off against enemies that are weak to heavy weapons, your heavy weapons specialist will be dishing out maximum damage. Picking a specialty means you're always bringing the right tool for the job.
