When you first start out in The Precinct, you'll be on foot patrols, which is great for getting a feel for things. But eventually, you'll want to upgrade to a patrol car, and luckily, there are quite a few to unlock as you progress in your career. Here's a rundown of what you need to know about car patrols and the vehicles themselves: Car Functionalities to Master: * Pacing: When you're behind another car, your vehicle automatically clocks its speed. Handy for spotting speeders! * Pulling Over: You can initiate a stop for vehicles ahead of you. There's a specific mode for this (press `Ctrl` on PC). * Emergency Light System (ELS): Toggle these on (`1` on PC) to let everyone know you're on duty or if there's a situation. * Siren: Hit `2` on PC to alert traffic. They'll get out of your way, especially on highways. * Turn Signal: Use `Q` or `E` on PC to signal lane changes or turns, just like in real life. * Cruise Control: Once you're at a steady speed, activate cruise control (`Shift` on PC) to maintain it. * Police Computer: When stopped, you can access useful tools like the Map (`M`), Background Checks (`B`), and an incident overview (`I`). The handbook is coming later (`TBA`). * Toggle View: Switch between first-person and third-person perspectives with `V` on PC. * Gadgets: Use `varies` to toggle your equipped gadget, and hold `Q` or `E` on PC to cycle through them. Transporting Arrestees: Most vehicles can hold up to 2 arrestees, but keep in mind the Compact Police Vehicle and the Fast Pursuit Vehicle can't transport anyone. Always check the capacity before you need it! Unlocking Your Wheels: As you gain Duty Stars, especially in the 'Melting Pot' district, you'll unlock more vehicles. Some cars are tied to specific DLCs, but many can be bundled together with the Garage Pack DLC. The Compact Police Vehicle is available right away, and others unlock when you hit 3 stars in Melting Pot.
