Learn how Orbments work in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero! Discover how to unlock Slots, equip Quartz, and unleash powerful Orbal Arts to dominate in battle.

Hey there! So, you're diving into The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and wondering about these things called Orbments? Think of them as your characters' personal magic-casting devices. They use special circuits called Quartz to pull off all sorts of cool effects, especially those awesome Orbal Arts you'll use in combat. The more Slots you open up on your Orbment, the more Energy Points (EP) your character has, which is super important for using those Arts.

You can get more Slots by visiting Genten, the Orbal Store, located right in the Central Square of Crossbell City. It's your go-to spot for upgrading your Orbment's potential!

How Do Slots Work?

Now, here's where it gets a bit interesting. You can't just jam any Quartz into any Slot and expect it to work perfectly. Each Orbment has these things called Lines, which are basically pathways that connect your Quartz. Tio's Orbment is pretty straightforward, with just one big Line running through it, so you have a lot of freedom with her. Randy's, on the other hand, is more complex, with three separate Lines. This means getting those super powerful Arts with him can be a bit more challenging because you have to think about how the Quartz connect across those different Lines.

Each Quartz you equip has an elemental value. For instance, the HP 1 Quartz has a water elemental value. If you slot it onto a Line, that Line gains that value, and you'll unlock the Tear Art. If you then add the Defense 2 Quartz (which has an Earth x3 value) to the same Line, you'll also unlock the Earth Pulse Art. But, if you put Defense 2 on a different Line than HP 1, you won't get that second Art. It's all about how those elemental values add up on the same Line!

How to Obtain Quartz

You'll be picking up Quartz in a few different ways. The most common method is by synthesizing them at the Genten Orbal Store. As you get further into the game, you'll find more variety available. Keep an eye out in the world too – you'll often find Quartz tucked away in treasure chests. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even feed fish to Coppe on the roof of the SSS Building; each type of fish you give her corresponds to a specific Quartz!

How to Upgrade Orbments

When you first start out, each character's Orbment only has a single Slot. To get more, you'll need to head back to Genten in Crossbell City's Central Square. Chat with Wendy, the lady behind the counter, and you'll see an option for 'Synthesize/Upgrade.' From there, pick the 'Slot' option. Instead of using Mira (the game's currency), you'll need Sepith to upgrade these Slots. You mostly get Sepith by defeating enemies, though sometimes you'll find it in chests.

The very first Slot you unlock on any given Line will be the cheapest. As you unlock more Slots on that same Line, the cost in Sepith will go up. Starting in Chapter 2, you'll also have the option to upgrade those Slots, which costs even more Sepith. Just like unlocking them, the further along a Line you go, the more expensive it gets. So, upgrading Tio's Orbment will end up costing a lot more Sepith than Randy's. Remember, both unlocking and upgrading Slots will boost your character's maximum EP!
