Fishing in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is a straightforward process. Locate a fishing spot (marked by ripples in the water), interact with it, and select your fishing rod and bait. After casting, wait for three text bubbles to appear above Lloyd's head. An exclamation point and an audio cue will signal a bite. Press the appropriate button quickly to catch the fish; failure means losing your bait. Mashing the button won't help and will prevent bites.

You'll receive your first fishing rod, the Novice Rod, in Chapter 1, Day 1, during the main quest 'Monster Damage Investigation'. Travel through East Crossbell Highway and Old Armorica Road to reach Armorica Village. Speak to the mayor, then find Kopan, a fisherman on a bridge. He will induct you into the fishing guild and provide starter gear: the Novice Rod, 10x Dumplings, 10x Earthworms, and the Fishing Notebook.

Chapter 1 - Fishing with the Novice Rod

Fishing Spot: Armorica Village

The Armorica Village fishing spot offers four types of fish: Armorican Carp, Tiger Rockfish, Rockeater, and Raineater. All can be caught with Earthworms. It's recommended to catch these before leaving Armorica Village, as returning later might be inconvenient.

Fishing Spots: Ursula Road

As you progress through Ursula Road towards St. Ursula Medical College, you'll find three new fishing spots. Here you can catch Snow Crab, Carp, Eel, and Gluttonous Bass. Earthworms are effective for all these. For more Earthworms, farm Deathcargot and Ocean Dromes on Ursula Road. For Carp, use Earthworms or Snow Crab. For Eel, use Earthworms. For Gluttonous Bass, use Earthworms, Kasagin, or Snow Crab.

Fishing Spot: St. Ursula Medical College

At St. Ursula Medical College, you can catch the Pearlglass using Dumplings. You can farm Dumplings from Racohm on Ursula Road. The Carp can also be caught here with Deluxe Dumplings, Dumplings, Earthworm, or Snow Crab.

Chapter 2 - Fishing with the Feather Tackle

The Feather Tackle fishing rod can be obtained from a chest during the 'Old Road Property Monster Extermination' request.

Fishing Spots: Crossbell City - Harbor District

In Crossbell City's Harbor District, you can catch Armorican Carp (using Deluxe Dumplings, Dumplings, or Earthworm), Pearlglass (using Deluxe Dumplings or Dumplings), Eel (using Earthworm), Azelfish (using Red Flies), Salmon (using Roe), Catfish (using Carp, Kasagin, or Snow Crab), and Viperhead (using Kasagin or Snow Crab).

Fishing Spots: Mainz Mountain Path

The Mainz Mountain Path offers two fishing spots: Stream and Waterfall. At the Stream, you can catch Rainbow Trout using Roe. At the Waterfall, you can catch Rainbow Trout and Salmon, both using Roe.

Fishing Spots: West Crossbell Highway

The West Crossbell Highway has a pond where you can catch Pythonhead using Kasagin or Snow Crab.
