Vanguard Initiative Quests

Complete walkthrough for Ochette's Chapter 2, "Tera's Route," in Octopath Traveler II. Includes tips for finding Tera, befriending Pom, and defeating the boss.

This chapter takes place in the town of Crackridge and is considered high level, recommended for players in their late 20s. It's useful to have party members with Ice and Darkness abilities, as well as healing capabilities.

Find someone who knows about Tera

Head to the northeast portion of Crackridge, near the Inn, to trigger a scene where you learn Tera is somewhere beneath the town.

Find someone who can lead the way to Tera

Go southwest towards the Weapon Shop to find Pom, who is very hungry and not scared of Tera.

Befriend Pom

To befriend Pom, you need to give him Aromatic Jerky. If you don't have any, hunt Buttermeeps in the Western Crackridge Wilds during the day to capture one and obtain the jerky. Return to Pom at night with the jerky to have him show you the way to the "Bed of the Titan" via a nearby ladder.

Make for the Bed of the Titan with Pom

Navigate through the area, collecting an Energizing Pomegranate (M) from a chest to the right before descending the ladder. Continue through the beams and ladders, finding a Knight's Greatbow in a chest. Take the southwest ladder down for a Protective Bracelet, then return and take the other ladder. Use the Save Stand and collect a Fire Amulet from the chest to the right before proceeding down the main ladder to face Tera.

BOSS FIGHT: TERA

Tera is a challenging boss. Keep party members above 1200 HP. Lowering Tera's attack with Thief abilities or using party buffs is recommended. Tera will gradually harden its shell, reducing its weaknesses. Consider party members like Osvald for his "Advanced Magic" or Castti for buffs and healing. Tera can also randomly remove party members for several turns. Avoid attacking when Tera uses "Coiling Lava" and focus on buffing and magic attacks. Breaking Tera's shield (max 6 points) is crucial. Ochette's "Cleaving Blow" can heal her during the fight. Save BP for powerful attacks and use Olives of Life as needed.

  • Tera Vulnerable: Dagger, Axe, Staff, Ice, Dark
  • Tera Vulnerable (Yellow Health): Axe, Ice, Dark
  • Tera Vulnerable (Red Health): Ice, Dark

Tera's Attacks:

  • Trample: Deals ~1,200 damage to one party member.
  • Tera Harden's its body: Removes Dagger weaknesses.
  • Sneeze / _The powerful gust blows you back!_: Randomly removes a party member for 4-5 turns.
  • Jolt: Deals 900 damage to all party members.
  • Cinders: Hits a random party member three times in a row for potentially over 2,000 damage.
