Needler

Learn how to defeat the Needler in Silent Hill: Townfall. Discover its weaknesses, attack patterns, and effective strategies for melee and ranged combat.

The Needler is a formidable enemy in Silent Hill: Townfall, characterized by its two large blade arms used for both climbing and attacking. These arms also serve as its primary defense, shielding its front. To damage the Needler effectively, you must strike during its attack animations or target its sides.

Weaknesses:

• The Needler's head is its main weak spot, but it's usually protected by its arm blades.
• It is also vulnerable from either side, as it cannot defend these areas.

Attacks and Dodge Timings:

1. Blade Slash: The Needler raises its right blade arm and slashes to the side. Dodge just as it raises its arm.
2. Side Slash: Performed when you are to its sides. Dodge as soon as you see its arm move. This is its quickest attack.
3. Knockdown Stab: The Needler raises its left blade arm and pokes it forward to knock you down. Dodge just as it raises its arm.
4. Double Blade Stab: Occurs after a knockdown when you are on the floor. Mash the B button to roll aside. The Needler is left wide open after this move.
5. Ceiling Lunge: The Needler climbs the ceiling and lunges. Dodge as it lunges to roll away.
6. Stabbing Grab: The Needler grabs you with one arm and attempts to stab you with the other. If grabbed, mash the on-screen button prompt to escape. Failure results in an instant kill.

Strategy:

• Melee Combat: Equip a melee weapon. Dodge its attacks and counter with strong or quick attacks. After dodging, Alex can often move to its side for an attack or even land a full combo. Charging a strong attack with the combat knife can leave the Needler open, especially if it attempts to counter.
• Ranged Combat: Handguns can be used to shoot the Needler in the head, but only right before it attacks, otherwise it will block the shot. This method is risky as Alex is vulnerable while aiming.
• Instant Kill: While risky and largely based on luck, it is possible to get an instant kill by hitting the Needler's head with a melee weapon.

Finishers:

When the Needler is dazed and on the ground, specific finishers can be performed depending on the weapon:

• Combat Knife/Ceremonial Dagger: Alex stabs the Needler in the head and throws it down.
• Steel Pipe/Crowbar: Alex plunges the weapon through the Needler's back.
• Fire Axe/Pulaski Axe: Alex plants the axe blade through the top of the Needler's head.
