Walkthrough
- 1Find the thin sheet on the side of the wall. Equip the knife and use the command to cut through it while close to it. Squeeze through the narrow opening.
- 2Examine the door along the left wall for a cutscene. The door is locked, so leave this section of the basement.
- 3Walk to the back of the basement and pick up the ++GARAGE REMOTE++ from the top of the water pump. A note is left under the remote.
- 4Exit the basement by going back up the stairs. Walk back outside of the house and use the garage remote on the garage.
- 5A Lurker will move out of the garage door as it opens, so be ready to fight it.
- 6Pick up the ++STEEL PIPE++ from the shelf in the garage.
- 7Arm the Steel Pipe and use it to pry open the door on the glowing cabinet at the end of the garage by tapping the A button.
- 8Pick up the ++EMPTY GAS CAN++ from inside the cabinet.
- 9Examine the COMBAT TRAINING MANUAL to the right of the garage.
Tips
- Do not cut the sheet on the side of the wall yet. If you look through the cloth sheet with Alex's flashlight turned off, you can see a figure (Alex's father) on the other side. Pushing in on RS while near the sheet reveals him more clearly. Cutting the sheet later is required for story progression.
- The nearby door to the backyard will not open while the basement is flooded because the safety latch is submerged. You need to get gas from the garage to power the pump and drain the water.
- If this is your second playthrough, pick up the ++CIRCULAR SAW++ from the left table in the back of the garage to receive the 'Rising Tension' achievement (25G).
