Shadows of Doubt Saradush Prison walkthrough: Find the Bronze Ioun Stone and defeat Gromnir Il-Khan. Includes Saradush Palace guide.
Walkthrough
- 1There are three ways into the Old Prison: via an entrance in the sewers, through the front door with the key from Sister Farielle, or by approaching courtesans at the back of the Tavern at nighttime (requires Negative Plane Protection).
- 2Inside, you must fight four Vampires, yielding 34000XP.
- 3On Prison Level 1, find magical ammo in the entrance area. A hidden door is present but cannot be opened. Exit through the door on the right.
- 4In the corridor, the leftmost door is impassable. The right door leads to a Fledgling Vampire cell. The middle door has a hidden door.
- 5Through the hidden door, encounter the Prison Spirit, who clutches its head. Search a nearby barrel for a skull.
- 6Follow the corridor, kill two attacking Vampires, and meet the Prison Spirit again.
- 7It mimes putting on a necklace. Search the table in the middle cell for a Rusted Amulet.
- 8In the cell above, you'll learn of a defiled shallow grave with a missing skull. Place the skull and Rusted Amulet on the table.
- 9Use Elven Holy Water (purchased at the Temple of Waukeen if not already possessed) to sanctify the grave. The Prison Spirit will appear and gesture for you to follow.
- 10The spirit leads you to a previously inaccessible cell in the east. A Vampire emerges; defeat it. Search the cell for the Bronze Ioun Stone.
- 11Return to where the Prison Spirit's body was found. A third cell contains another Vampire. A hidden door in its back leads to a corridor with a Fledgling Vampire.
- 12The obvious door has a difficult lock (>100 skill). Alternatively, use a hidden door above it to reach the lair of Phlydian, the vampires' leader.
- 13Kill Phlydian and two other Vampires, then exit to Level 2.
- 14On Prison Level 2, you start in the eastern tunnel, receiving 3000XP per party member. Meet Bhaalspawn Asmay Jahag, who warns of patrols and traps.
- 15The southern corridor has traps and guards. Be wary of Thieves using Potions of Invisibility for backstabs. A Mage is in the western section.
- 16Optionally, free three prisoners after dealing with guards for +1 Reputation per prisoner.
- 17Pick the locks in the cell area to find a storeroom with two Elite Orc guards and one Elite Orog. Loot containers for magical ammo, a Wand of Lightning, and Fflar's Scabbard (a crafting item).
- 18The northern small storeroom is the sewer entrance.
- 19Proceed east through more non-elite enemies. A trapped and locked container in the last room holds magical ammo.
- 20Buff up and exit to the Saradush Palace Lower Level.
- 21On the Lower Level, face three Il-Khan Soldiers, an Archer, and a Battle Mage. The Battle Mage is dangerous.
- 22Buff up and head upstairs to face Gromnir Il-Khan.
- 23On the Upper Level, Melissan and Gromnir are arguing. After Melissan leaves, Gromnir notices you and attacks, accompanied by Karun the Black, an Il-Khan Battle Mage, Berena Elkan, Eler Had, and an Il-Khan Soldier.
- 24Use area-of-effect spells like Horrid Wilting or Dragon's Breath on Gromnir's area to kill the Mages. Use a powerful summon to distract Gromnir while you defeat Elkan and Had. Use defensive spells like Stoneskin, Iron Skins, or Mirror Image against Had's backstab. Leave one fighter to handle the Il-Khan Soldier.
- 25Defeating Gromnir yields around 100000 combat XP, plus 30000XP per party member. Melissan arrives after his defeat.
- 26Melissan offers information on Yaga-Shura if you agree to hunt him. She describes him as a powerful fire giant who heals rapidly and suggests searching his childhood area in the Forest of Mir for his secret.
Tips
- The Bronze Ioun Stone is moderately useful and a crafting component.
- The elite guards in the storeroom are surprisingly weak.
- Be prepared for difficult fights in the Saradush Palace, especially against Gromnir Il-Khan and his allies.
