Learn about all weapon types, how to acquire new weapons, weapon mods, and how to upgrade your arsenal in Remnant: From the Ashes. Master your combat options.

Weapons are the tools you'll use most often as you adventure through the worlds in Remnant: From the Ashes. Your character can equip one of each of the three weapon types: Hand Gun, Long Gun, and Melee Weapon.

Acquiring New Weapons

There are several ways to obtain new weapons. At the game's beginning, Ace gives you your first loadout of new weapons based on the Archetype you select. You can also purchase weapons from vendors like Rigs at Ward 13 or the various NPCs you meet as you wander. Third, completing quests sometimes rewards you with a new weapon. Defeating bosses very often rewards you with a material with which McCabe at Ward 13 can craft you a new weapon. Sometimes, you just find them lying around. In rare instances, enemies drop new weapons for you to take and enjoy.

Modding Weapons

Weapon Mods add special powers to weapons. Some are integral parts of a particular weapon and cannot be removed. Others are interchangeable between Hand Guns and Long Guns. All grant what amounts to a spell when they are applied to an equipped weapon. Some grant powerful attacks. Others bolster your character's defenses. Some allow the character to summon creatures to help in the fight. Weapon Mods are extremely powerful tools, so carefully consider and equip the ones that will help you the most.

Obtain interchangeable Weapon Mods by taking materials to McCabe at Ward 13. You'll need three basic kinds of materials to craft a mod: a special material (generally a reward for winning a boss fight), Lumenite Crystal, and Scrap.

Upgrading Weapons

As you work your way through the worlds, you'll accumulate certain materials that allow you to upgrade your weapons. These include Lumenite Crystal and iron in its various forms. Which form of iron you need depends on the level to which you want to upgrade a weapon. The progression, from lowest upgrade level to highest, is: Iron, Forged Iron, Galvanized Iron, and Hardened Iron.

Finally, to upgrade a weapon to its highest level, you'll need Lumenite Crystal and Simulacrum, which is a very rare find and should be spent wisely.
