Destroy Toxic Waste Dump in Quake II

Alright, so you've made it to the Toxic Waste Dump. This place is exactly what it sounds like – nasty acid pits and plenty of Strogg trying to stop you. The main goal here is to get to the Strogg main reactor and blow it sky-high. But hey, while we're here, we should also hit up pumping stations one and two. Keep an eye out, too – there's at least one secret area to find.

Walkthrough

You'll start off heading forward. To your right, you'll spot a Hyper Blaster. If you're low on ammo, you can jump across the acid to grab it, but be careful not to fall in!

Keep moving, and you'll run into some Guards. Take 'em out, then you'll emerge into an outdoor area. There's a big acid lake here, so whatever you do, don't step into it.

Instead, hop onto the platform on your right. It'll take you up. Follow the walkway and go through the door on the right. Inside, you'll find some Iron Maidens – waste 'em. Search the room afterwards, and you should find a bunch of Stimpacks.

Climb the stairs in this room and clear out all the enemies in the corridor, including another Tank.

Once the Tank is dealt with, hop onto the platform it was guarding and ride it up. Step off and immediately turn around. You should see an Ammo Pack sitting on a ledge to your left.

Now, head to the right and jump onto the pipes that go across the room. From there, jump up to grab that Ammo Pack. This is a great spot to refill most of your ammo for all your weapons.

Go down the corridor that's at the top of the moving platform and head through a door. You'll see a bridge ahead. Look underneath it – there's a waterway flowing with acid.

Secret Area Alert! If you have an Environment Suit equipped, drop down into the acid waterway. Follow it, and you'll find a secret area containing another Environment Suit.

Now, you need to get back up. Go back up the acid waterway. The current is strong, so you'll have to keep jumping into it to make progress. Once you're back up, drop down below and make your way back to the bridge level.

Head through the corridor on the other side of the bridge. Take a left, clear out all the enemies, and take note of the branching corridors. The first one on the right leads to a locked door you can't open yet.

Go down the first corridor on the left. You'll see some barrels on the left side. Blow them up – they'll create a hole in the wall leading to a button. Press it! This will give you access to pumping station one.

Head forward and drop into the hole. You're now inside Pumping Station one.

Tips

Don't be afraid to use the acid pits to your advantage if enemies get too close – they'll fall in and die.
Remember to grab that Hyper Blaster early on if you need it; it's a powerful weapon.
Always check your ammo after grabbing an Ammo Pack; it's easy to forget what you picked up.
The secret area with the Environment Suit is crucial if you're running low on protection or want to explore further.
