Complete The Temple of Trials in Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Solve puzzles, beat Bashura, and get the Heart-Winning Harp.

The Test of Wits

This trial requires you to solve three puzzles. You’ll need to stand on the symbol and cast the ‘Puppet String’ spell to move statues. The hint is: “The dragon sees the warrior’s sword, while the bird is shown his shield, the beast, meanwhile, looks to his right, and sees an empty field.” The order for the statues, from left to right, is: beast, dragon, warrior, bird.

The second puzzle involves moving blocks to blend into a picture. From left to right, the first block goes in the center of the figure’s ‘mouth’, the second block in the left-to-center part of the right eye, the third block in the right part of the mouth, the fourth block in the left eye (its right side), and the last block in the left part of the face’s mouth.

The third puzzle’s hint is: “The bird is bound to dragon and moon, and on a star he sits. The beast links warrior, moon, and star, yet knows not where he fits.” The solution is: place the bird on the star mark on the lower right, the dragon on the sun mark in the upper-right corner, the beast on the sun mark in the upper-left corner, and the warrior on the moon mark directly to the right of the beast.

Completing this test nets you the [PROOF OF WITS].

The Test of Friendship

In these three trials, you must control both Oliver and Esther simultaneously to get them across paths without falling. Tiles will start falling down behind you, so speed is essential. The first path is straightforward. The second path requires you to stand on switches to create bridges for the other person. The third path has crossing paths from left to right and vice versa; control one character at a time. There are no penalties for falling off.

Finishing this test grants you the [PROOF OF FRIENDSHIP].

The Test of Strength

Talk to Solomon to initiate the boss battle.

Boss Fight: Bashura

After the battle, you receive the page of [BASHURA] and the [PROOF OF STRENGTH]. Sage Solomon also rewards you with the [BRIDGE] and [BROOM BROOM] spells, as well as the important [HEART-WINNING HARP].

Familiar Mechanics

With the Heart-Winning Harp, Esther can play serenades to seduce creatures into becoming your familiar. You’ll be shown a tutorial where you must select one of three potential familiars: Shonky-Honker, Boggly-Boo, or a Naiad. The Shonky-Honker is an all-around familiar with potential to become the strongest in magical attack. Boggly-Boo is a strong attacker that learns elemental attacks, and the Naiad is best for healing. You can catch these familiars later.

Start the battle and fight the familiar of your choice, then play the serenade as it falls in love with you. In regular battles, there’s only a small chance a creature will do this.

You’ll also learn about familiar metamorphosis. Give your Mite a [SUNDROP] treat to change him into Mighty Mite. This resets his level to 1, but he levels up quickly.

The Familiar Retreat allows you to store unneeded familiars (up to 400). The first time you use it, you receive vials of [GREAT SAGE’S SECRET x3], [JUMBO SUNDROPS x3], [JUMBO STARDROPS x3], [JUMBO MOONDROPS x3], and [JUMBO PLANETDROPS x3]. These are used to metamorphose familiars into their third forms.
