Motorville: Chapter 1 Entering Another World

Start your Ni no Kuni adventure in Motorville! Follow this guide to learn controls, find Oliver's house, and discover the Wizard's Companion.

Alright, so you're kicking things off in Motorville! The very first thing you'll do is get a little tutorial on how to move around. Just head over to Philip and chat with him to get things rolling. After that, the game will introduce you to the mini-map and the local map. Your next objective is to find that yellow star on the map – it marks Oliver's house, which is located to the south and west of where you are right now.

Once you've watched the scenes unfold, you'll get control back, but it'll be nighttime. The game will give you a quick rundown of the Main Menu and how to save your game. So, go ahead, open up the Main Menu, and hit **START** to save! Super simple, right?

Now, leave the house and make your way to Phil's garage. You'll see it marked on your mini-map. There's another scene to watch on your way there. Before you trigger the next, really long cutscene, just take a quick peek to make sure the coast is clear to your west and south. After all those scenes are finally done, you'll find yourself back inside your house. Head downstairs and check out the fireplace – that's where you'll discover the awesome book, [THE WIZARD’S COMPANION]!

Go ahead and put your name (or whatever you fancy) in the book. Next up, you need to find something brown and sticky, kind of like a stick, to use as a substitute for a magic wand! Drippy will be your guide for this part, so just follow him around. He'll stop a few times, and you'll need to talk to him whenever he does. Along the way, you'll get to learn more about the Bottomless Bag, which is where you'll keep all the items you collect.
