Ernest doesn’t appear in Sandrock until the eighth main mission, Cover My Glass. After this, he moves into the apartments behind City Hall. He can usually be found in the lobby of his apartment building or in his room (the first apartment on the right). He does not have a social network and occasionally visits the center of town.
You can begin romancing Ernest as soon as he arrives. To increase your relationship, speak to him daily, give him gifts, Spar with him, and go on Play Dates. He also has side missions, such as crafting him a new desk and chair. Reaching three hearts or 400 Friendship Points allows you to ask him to be your boyfriend by giving him a Heart Knot, which costs 128 Gols from the General Store.
Once Ernest is your boyfriend, you can go on dates to earn Friendship Points faster. At three hearts or 900 points, you can propose by giving him an Engagement Ring, purchased from the Mysterious Man on the 20th or 21st of the month for 2,000 Gols.
