Antediluvian Chisel Locations: Upgrading the Umbral Lamp in Lords of the Fallen

Antediluvian Chisels are super rare items you'll need for upgrading your Umbral Lamp, and you'll usually find them in the Umbral realm, often in the mid to late-game areas. Don't sweat it if you haven't found one early on; it's pretty normal to get your first one around 1-15 hours into your playthrough, maybe after clearing Pilgrim's Perch or the Fen areas.

Here's where to find them:

1. Calrath Slums: Head to the Slums Vestige in the Alehouse. Go down the stairs and through a hole in the wall onto the street. Be careful of traps! You'll need to roll through mines and then run up the road, rolling past those crossbow snake enemies. At the top, turn right into a square. Deal with any enemies that followed you, like a Ravager. Once you're ready, switch to the Umbral. Try to deal with or at least kite the large, Easter Island-like creature near the stairs, then run past it. In the center of the square, you'll find a creature on the wall that you can Soul Flay for a Chisel.
2. The Fief: After you've finished the main story in Calrath Lower City and taken down the Fire Giant boss, go back to Skyrest. Look for a note where an NPC used to be. This note will point you towards the Abandoned Redcopse waypoint. From there, open the bell door to its left. Go through the cave, and you'll face a mini-boss – a frost Viking warrior with some frost wolves. Near the boss, on the wall, is a creature you can Soul Flay to get another Antediluvian Chisel.
3. The Manse: You can get to the Manse after you buy the Pilgrim's Perch Key. You'll go through another Hallowed Knight area, and after beating that boss, you can start climbing up the rest of the Perch. Use an elevator to reach the Manse. Once inside, make your way through the castle grounds, defeat the patrolling knight, and grab the Kitchen Key. Then, you'll need to enter the Umbral and solve an Umbral pathing puzzle. Inside, near some archways leading from the kitchen to the barracks, you'll find an object to Soul Flay for a Chisel.

How to Upgrade Your Umbral Lamp

Once you've snagged an Antediluvian Chisel, you can finally upgrade your Umbral Lamp. Here's how:

1. Grab an Antediluvian Chisel (you know where now!).
2. Head to the Skyrest waypoint.
3. Transfer into the Umbral.
4. Turn your back to the Vestige in the Skyrest Safe Hub, then go through the archway on the right.
5. Talk to the creature in that room and choose the 'upgrade' option.
6. Spend your Antediluvian Chisel to get an extra Soul Flay Charge.

And that's it! You've now upgraded your Umbral Lamp, giving you more breathing room in tough fights and a nice edge against enemies. Remember, some Umbral Eyes can increase stun duration when using Soul Flay charges, so if you find yourself using the Lamp a lot, consider equipping those. Collecting all the Chisels and fully upgrading the lamp will also net you the 'Carving Out Victory' trophy.
