Learn how to effectively use ranged and throwing weapons in Lords of the Fallen (2023). This guide covers equipping ammo, switching weapons, ammo mechanics, and refilling your supply.

In Lords of the Fallen (2023), ranged and throwing weapons offer a unique combat approach. This guide details how to equip, use, and manage ammunition for these versatile tools.

Equipping Ranged/Throwing Weapons:

To use a ranged weapon, equip it in the third slot (next to your main weapons/shield). For throwing weapons, you can leave this slot empty if preferred. Once a ranged weapon is equipped, you can assign its corresponding ammunition (arrows for bows, bolts for crossbows) to the three slots beneath it. The available ammo types will dynamically change based on the equipped ranged weapon.

Switching and Firing:

Switch between your Lamp and your ranged weapon by pressing /. To enter the Ranged Stance, hold L (or the equivalent button on your controller). You can then select your desired ammo type using the directional buttons (e.g., Up, Left, Down on D-pad). A quick shot or throw can be performed by pressing / (or controller equivalent), while holding the button allows for a charged shot. An aimed shot or throw is executed by holding / (or controller equivalent), though this feature may be restricted on certain weapons.

Unlimited Use Ammo Mechanic:

When you first use a ranged or throwing weapon, you'll notice a bar beneath your stamina. This bar consists of gray segments (representing available ammo) and yellow segments (representing the ammo cost per shot/throw). As you use ammo, the bar depletes. The yellow segments indicate the cost of specific ammo types, typically ranging from two to three segments.

Ammo Types and Refills:

Unlike many games, finding a new ammo type (e.g., Radiant Bolt, throwing knife, grenade) in Lords of the Fallen means you keep it permanently. You can assign up to three or four of these unique ammo types, similar to spells. To replenish your ammo bar when it depletes, you must use consumable items: the Ammunition Pouch (lesser version) or Ammunition Satchel (better version). The Ammunition Pouch can be purchased from NPC merchants or found as loot, while the Ammunition Satchel is a rarer find.

Magic vs. Ranged/Throwing:

Magic operates on a traditional Mana system. Casting spells consumes Mana, which can be replenished by resting at a Vestige or using consumables like Manastones. Spell costs vary, with simpler spells like Radiant Flare consuming less Mana than more powerful ones.
