Dodge and Block are two crucial defensive layers in Last Epoch that players can utilize to mitigate incoming damage. Understanding how they work and how to build them effectively is key to surviving the game's toughest challenges.

How Dodge Works:

Dodge is a chance-based defensive stat that, when successful, causes you to completely avoid an incoming attack. The chance to dodge is displayed as a percentage in your character sheet. Certain skills, passives, and gear affixes can increase your Dodge Chance. However, there is a cap on how much Dodge Chance you can accumulate, typically around 85%.

How Block Works:

Block is another chance-based defensive stat, but it specifically applies to melee and projectile attacks. When you successfully block an attack, you take significantly reduced damage rather than avoiding it entirely. The amount of damage reduction is determined by your Block Effectiveness. Like Dodge, Block Chance can be increased through skills, passives, and gear. There is also a cap on Block Chance, similar to Dodge.
