Master the Lagon boss fight in Last Epoch! Learn Lagon's mechanics, phases, and strategies to defeat him and claim unique rewards. Includes defensive stat recommendations.

Alright, so you've made it to Lagon, the final boss of the Ending the Storm Monolith Timeline. He's in the Eye of the Storm, and trust me, he's a tough one. Lagon's got a nasty one-shot mechanic that can flatten most characters, plus a bunch of other attacks that can really mess you up, especially if you're running higher Corruption or your character isn't quite maxed out. The key here is positioning – you absolutely need to know where to stand.

Boss Mechanics

Let's break down what Lagon throws at you:

Moon Beam (Channel)

This is Lagon's most dangerous attack. He'll move to one side of the arena and then sweep a massive beam across the entire area, dealing huge Lightning and Cold damage. As soon as you see him turn to a side, you need to sprint to the opposite edge of the arena. Seriously, get to the very edge!

Moon Beam (Hit)

This version appears once Lagon hits 65% HP or less. This time, he fires the beam directly in front of him. He'll lower his head slightly before unleashing it, so watch for that tell and quickly move to the side. Like the channeled version, getting hit means massive Cold and Lightning damage.

Moon Blast

Lagon will rise up a bit and lift his arms, placing a large white AoE marker on the ground. You'll have just a split second to move out of it before it detonates, dealing massive Cold and Lightning damage.

Lightning Strikes

Small lightning circles will pop up all over the arena. There's a slight delay before they explode, so keep moving to avoid them. They don't hit *too* hard individually, but it's best to avoid them altogether.

Claw Smash

Lagon raises one of his massive claws and slams it down. This deals Physical damage and can stun you, so be ready to dodge when you see him start to lift a claw.

Once Lagon hits 50% health, he'll teleport you to the arena below, kicking off Phase 2.

Tentacles (Phase 2)

In this phase, Lagon disappears and summons several tentacles. You absolutely have to kill them all to progress. Just focus them down while dodging their attacks, as they can also stun you. Keep an eye out for other incoming attacks too, like the small cold waves that will constantly come your way – evade those!

After the tentacles are dealt with, you move into Phase 3. It's pretty much Phase 1 again, but Lagon can now also use some of the Phase 2 attacks. So, you'll be dodging elemental attacks, eye beams, and claw swipes all at once.

Encounter Walkthrough & Strategy

Phase 1 happens on a small platform. Your main job is dodging those beams and lightning strikes while still trying to get damage in on Lagon. For Phase 2, you need to kill the tentacles quickly and avoid all the incoming attacks. Phase 3 is a mix of Phase 1 and Phase 2, so it's a real test of your dodging skills.

  • Stay mobile — Always be moving, especially during the tentacle phase. Lots of stuff comes at you, and those tentacles can stun you in a heartbeat.
  • Watch Lagon closely — Most of his attacks are telegraphed. Keep an eye on his movements: when he lifts his claws, turns his head, or lowers it – react fast!
  • Don't hug the edge too much — While the arena edge can save you from some attacks, it can also trap you for others. Find a good balance.

Recommended Defensive Stats

  • 75% Lightning Resistance
  • 75% Cold Resistance
  • High movement speed and mobility skills are crucial, along with strong defensive layers.

Unique Boss-Specific Rewards

Lagon can drop four unique items. Two are pretty common, while the others are rarer and their drop rate scales with Corruption:

  • Alluvion and Coral Aegis: These are the two common drops. Each has a 50% chance to drop, but you only get one per kill. They can drop in Normal or Empowered versions, and Corruption doesn't affect their drop rates.
  • Stormcarved Testament: This is a rare drop, more likely at high Corruption levels in Empowered Monoliths. It *can* drop in Normal, but the chances are super low, so farm Empowered if you're after this.
  • Eye of Storms: A rare weapon exclusive to Empowered timelines. Its drop rate also increases with Corruption.

Harbinger of Chaos

The Harbinger for this Timeline is the Harbinger of Chaos, and she's an Agile Archetype. She'll use some skills similar to Lagon, but with her own twist:

  • She can use the small cold waves that appeared during Lagon's Tentacle phase.
  • She also has Lagon's channeled Moon Beam, but it's much smaller when she uses it. It still hits hard, but it's less likely to be a one-shot compared to Lagon's version.

Harbinger of Chaos Mechanics

Here's what the Harbinger of Chaos brings to the fight:

  • Portal Spear: She creates two portals, one near her and one near you. She'll throw her spear into one, and it'll come out the other. It deals low Physical and Void damage and is pretty easy to avoid.
  • Spear Beam: She charges up and fires a beam in a straight line in front and behind her, dealing Fire damage.
  • Spear Dash: The Harbinger dashes towards you, dealing low Physical and Void damage.
  • Spear Thrust: She slides forward, performing quick attacks with her spears in front of her. Deals low Physical damage.
  • Void Blast: Large orbs appear around the arena. Touching them deals Void damage. They don't last forever, so keep your distance.
  • Void Slam: She flies up and slams down heavily on a telegraphed area, dealing Void damage.
  • Void Rush: The Harbinger rushes towards one of the players, dealing Physical and Void damage.
  • Void Slash: A quick spin attack that creates a blast moving away from her. Deals Void damage.
  • Void Spears: She marks two spots on the ground with spears, then detonates them into multiple projectiles. Deals low Void damage but applies Frailty and reduces your Armor. You'll see the markers before they detonate, so move out of the way!

Harbinger Unique Drops

  • Black Blade of Chaos
  • Harbinger's Needle

Additionally, Harbingers drop the Harbinger Eye, which you'll need if you want to summon Aberroth.
