Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak corvette types: Heavy, Multi-gun, Minelayer, Repair, and Salvage. Learn their stats, costs, and availability.

Heavy Corvette

The Heavy Corvette is considered the best strikecraft for stopping fighters, especially when fielded in large numbers (160+ fighter wings) and supported by frigates. It excels at breaking up defender and corvette walls, making it highly effective for defensive purposes, though capital ships can easily destroy them when alone.

Stats:

  • Mass: 750 tons
  • Armour: 1700
  • Firepower: 200
  • Coverage: 50%
  • Type: Two twin turreted guns
  • Manoeuvrability: Medium
  • Max Velocity: 500m/s
  • Special Action: Burst shot (effect on 2400m, can damage own ships)
  • Fuel: Evasive (10 min combat, 17 min normal)
  • Service time: 30-40 seconds
  • RU Cost: 240
  • Available from: Mission 3
  • Time to build: 22 seconds
  • RU per sec: 6.1
Tips
  • Use in large numbers with support frigates for maximum effectiveness against fighter wings.
  • Wait until enemies are at close range before using Burst shot to avoid friendly fire.
  • Warning: Burst shot can damage or kill your own nearby ships.

Multi Gun Corvette

Cheaper than Heavy Corvettes, Multi Gun Corvettes are best used in mixed attack wings with Heavies, where they often die first. Their speed is beneficial against unsupported capital ships. They are less effective when focusing fire on single targets compared to other strategies.

Stats:

  • Mass: 750 tons
  • Armour: 1400
  • Firepower: 180
  • Coverage: 78%
  • Manoeuvrability: Medium (High in tests)
  • Max Velocity: 695m/s
  • Special Action: None
  • Fuel: Evasive (10 min combat, 17 min normal)
  • RU Cost: 220
  • Service time: 32-40 seconds
  • Available from: Mission 3
  • Time to build: 22 seconds
  • RU per sec: 6.1
Tips
  • Use in mixed attack wings with Heavy Corvettes.
  • Their speed can be useful against unsupported capital ships.

Minelayer Corvette

Minelayer Corvettes are generally considered ineffective due to their short-lived minefields and low mine damage. Mines can be avoided by strike craft or destroyed by capital ships. They are only situationally useful if micro-managed and supported by masses of fighters.

Stats:

  • Mass: 750 tons
  • Armour: 1800
  • Firepower: 600-800 damage (depends on impact location)
  • Coverage: 0 (mines travel up to 350-500m/s)
  • Type: Space mines
  • Manoeuvrability: Medium
  • Max Velocity: 425m/s
  • Special Action: Force drop mine field (6 pack)
  • Fuel: Evasive (13 min combat, 21 min normal)
  • RU Cost: 275
  • Available from: Mission 10
  • Time to build: 40 seconds
  • RU per sec: 7/8
Tips
  • Only effective with extensive micro-management and support from massed fighters.
  • Can be used against enemies if they employ them.

Repair Corvette

Repair Corvettes are useful for following salvage corvettes, though they are somewhat outclassed by support frigates early on. Docking them can be difficult using double-clicks; menus or keys are recommended.

Stats:

  • Mass: 750 tons
  • Armour: 800
  • Firepower: 65 (near 0 in tests)
  • Coverage: 10%
  • Type: Guns*
  • Special Action: Repair beam (45/s, 25 in V1.05)
  • Manoeuvrability: Medium
  • Max Velocity: 350m/s
  • Fuel: Unlimited***
  • RU Cost: 150
  • Available from: Mission 1
  • Time to build: 20 seconds
  • RU per sec: 7.5
Tips
  • Use menus or keys to dock them into your required vessel, keeping support frigates farther away.
  • Repair beams only repair what the ship is ordered to repair; ships in the green beam will not be healed.

Salvage Corvette

The Salvage Corvette's primary function is capturing ships using its Virii type.

Stats:

  • Mass: 1200 tons
  • Armour: 1400
  • Firepower: 0
  • Coverage: 0
  • Type: Virii
  • Special Action: Capture ships
  • Manoeuvrability: Medium
