Navigate tentacle pits and the Grunt Factory in Half-Life: Opposing Force Part 58. Find health and ammo before entering the teleporter.
Walkthrough
- 1Jump over the path gap after the tentacle pit explodes and crouch-walk to get past the third tentacle.
- 2If you have trouble with the tentacles, toss a grenade to distract one and run past.
- 3Past the tentacles, use hornets to shoot the alien grunt in the middle of the area and the one hiding behind the large rock on the right, near the exit teleporter.
- 4Find a health pack behind the large rock, an ammo canister next to the teleporter gadget, and an armor battery near a small rock.
- 5Enter the teleporter to reach section c4a1c.
- 6In the starting room of c4a1c, turn right and drop to a lower floor for a health pack and bullet clip.
- 7Crouch-walk out and cross the room to a lift; ride it up to the next floor.
- 8Head down the walkway to the right to find a healing chamber.
- 9Return to the lift, ride it down, jump onto the connecting part to the pole, and ride it up to a conveyor belt.
- 10Jump onto the conveyor belt and ride it to a ledge around a central support pillar.
- 11Crouch-walk to another conveyor belt and wait for two barrels to pass before getting on it.
- 12Quicksave near the end of the belt where barrels drop into liquid.
- 13As you fall, lean on the "Move backward" key to land on a ledge in section c4a1d instead of the toxic liquid.
- 14In c4a1d, immediately strafe left and run forward to drop to the floor near a big barrel.
- 15Crouch-walk past the right side of the barrel (or run past the left) to a dark corner.
- 16Use the hornet gun to fire at the nearby alien controller, moving to avoid the piston.
- 17Crouch next to the barrel to peek left and hornet the vort on your floor, avoiding damage to the barrel.
- 18Go to the other end of the area to find a dark room with two more grunt barrels.
- 19In the back right corner of this room is a narrow passage to a dead HEV suit with two armor batteries.
- 20At the other end of the room, jump to a slightly higher floor for an ammo canister.
- 21Before getting the ammo, fire hornets into the big dark pit past the floor to kill an alien controller that rises.
- 22After getting the ammo, find a healing chamber to the left.
- 23Return to the room with the big barrel drop-down pool and find the small corner lift on the floor next to the pool's left side.
- 24Quicksave before riding the lift up, as there may be vorts on nearby walkways; quickrestore and hornet them if necessary.
- 25At the top of the lift, move onto the barrel drop-down tank's rim instead of the walkway to skip an alien-infested area.
- 26Move to the left end of the back rim and jump to the rim around the leftmost of the two piston things.
- 27From there, jump or ride the piston to the walkway on the left.
- 28Look for vorts to kill, then get on the piston in the nearby corner when it's lowered.
- 29Ride the piston up and get off on the upper walkway.
- 30Go down the narrow, dark corridor until you reach a doorway mostly blocked by a grunt barrel.
- 31Sneak-shoot the vort to the left of the doorway with hornets.
- 32If the vort runs out the opposite doorway, go back to the piston, look around the corner, and hornet the vort and another one on the walkway.
- 33Crouch-walk slowly through the doorway gap to the left of the barrel, firing hornets to the left to kill another vort and an alien controller.
Tips
- If you have trouble with the tentacles, toss another grenade to help distract it, then run past.
- The alien controller in c4a1d may come right up to you, so be ready to kill it quickly with the assault rifle or shotgun.
- Most barrels from here on contain alien grunts that activate when destroyed, so try not to let vorts zap them.
- The lift in c4a1d goes up and down, making it tricky to get onto the tank's rim; a barrel will squash you if it drops while you're moving along the back of the rim.
- There may be a vort or two on nearby walkways when you ride the lift in c4a1d; quickrestore and hornet them from below before riding the lift again.
- There will probably be a vort on the walkway even if the first one doesn't run out, so go get it.
- Watch out for vorts on lower walkways.
