What do I see? Three lasers are shining towards the machine. Two are hitting their connectors, but one is blocked, and another is weakened.
What do I do? You need to interact with the buttons on the machine to start it up. Then, look up and notice a blade of grass to the northeast is blocking one of the lasers from hitting its connector. Why this way? Cutting down the grass allows the laser to properly connect and power the machine.

Where am I? Still at The Mysterious Machine, but now investigating the weakened laser.
What do I see? The weakened laser is flashing from the southwest, pointing towards the house. At the bottom of the machine, there's a hole in the ground where red mites are chewing on wires, both inside and outside the hole.
What do I do? You need to head to the hole and clear out all the red mites. It's dark down there, so bring a torch (we have a guide on how to craft one if you need it!). A spear is also a good choice for dealing with these mites, and you can find instructions on crafting one in our Pebblet Spear guide.
Why this way? Eliminating the red mites stops them from damaging the wires, which in turn stops the laser from being weakened.

What do I see? The quest should update, prompting you to investigate the machine further after dealing with the mites.
What do I do? Return to the machine and interact with the buttons again. This will trigger a cutscene that points you towards the Oak Tree lab, located northeast of the machine, kicking off the next quest.
Why this way? This completes the current objective and moves you forward in the main story.
