Road to the Zanarkand Ruins
Follow the linear path downwards. After a scene, use the Save Sphere and continue along the path to reach the Overpass.
Overpass
Items: Fortune Sphere, Spiritual Targe
Enemies: Ahriman, Bashura, Behemoth, Dark Flan, Grendel, Mandragora
The enemies here are the same as those encountered in the Gagazet Mountain Cave. Follow the ruined road north. It will turn left; in this area, a chest contains a Fortune Sphere. Continue north for a scene. Further along, a small jutting area on your map holds a chest with a Spiritual Targe (MP Stroll). Keep following the path.
Dome
You will arrive at a Save Sphere; use it, then enter the building.
Dome Interior
Items: 10,000 Gil, Friend Sphere, Lv. 3 Key Sphere
Enemies: Defender Z, Fallen Monk (Rifle), Fallen Monk (Flamethrower), YAT-97, YKT-11
The enemies in this area are upgraded versions of previous foes and cannot be Captured. The Fallen Monks (Rifle) have Candle of Life as a Common Steal and Purifying Salt as a Rare Steal. Defender Z is best handled with Provoke; it can be Stealed from for Lunar Curtains and may rarely drop a Lv. 3 Key Sphere. Zombie protection is useful against rifle Fallen Monks, and Fire defenses against flamethrower variants.
Follow the linear path inside. Just after the first covered section, look to the right of the upward-sloping path for a collapsed ceiling leading to the top of the enclosure, where a chest holds 10,000 Gil. Continue on the lower level to a Save Sphere. At a fork ahead, the northeastern branch leads to a chest with a Friend Sphere. Return to the split and head northwest. After rounding a corner, cross a girder bridge. Behind it, a downward-sloping beam leads to a chest with a Lv. 3 Key Sphere. Return and follow the walkways into the next room.
Dome Corridor
Items: Luck Sphere
Enemies: None
Follow the path. To the right, a Luck Sphere can be found, which creates a rare Luck +4 Node on the Sphere Grid. At the end of the corridor, use the Save Point, then descend the stairs into the Dome Temple.
Dome Temple
Zanarkand Cloister of Trials
Items: Lv. 4 Key Sphere
Enemies: Spectral Keeper (boss)
Note: The Destruction Sphere for this Cloister is only accessible in Act 3.
This Cloister of Trials requires stepping on corresponding shapes shown on a monitor. Mistakes reset the current puzzle but do not affect completed ones. A map of the shapes is recommended.
In the smaller chamber, step on the marked spots for all shapes shown on the monitor (avoiding squares) to trigger a scene. Then, push one of the revealed outer pedestals. In the large room, step on each block shown on the screen, ensuring correct orientation. Once solved, return to the small room and push another pedestal. After all four are solved, use the Kilika Sphere (red) from the large room on the left pedestal in the small room, and the Besaid Sphere (blue) on the right pedestal. After a scene, equip Berserk Ward/Proof armor, use the Save Sphere, and head to the center of the large room to face the boss.
