Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered Variable and Special Items guide, including effects and how to obtain items like the Red Hare Saddle.

Variable Items

  • Speed Scroll – Increases walking speed (Range = 1-16). Useful for slow characters like Xu Zhu or Meng Huo.
  • Dragon Amulet – Increases Max Musou Gauge (Range = 1-60). Limited utility unless you prefer an extended Musou bar.
  • Tiger Amulet – Increases Attack Power (Range = 1-20). Best for weak characters early on; less impactful once your character is powered up.
  • Huang's Bow – Increases Bow Attack Power (Range = 1-40). Decent for bow users, but other items are superior.
  • Wind Scroll – Increases Reach (Range = 1-20). A super rare item. Noticeable difference at +10. Best for sword characters like Liu Bei and Sun Jian due to their medium weapon range.
  • Peacock Urn - Increases HP Max (Range = 1-60). Very useful, especially at +30, as extra HP can be life-saving.
  • Tortoise Amulet - Increases Defense (Range = 1-40). Helps you stay in the fight longer.
  • Shell Armor - Increases Bow Defense (Range = 1-40). Useful against many archers.
  • Horned Helm - Increases Mounted Attack (Range = 1-40). Consider only if you have a high point value and face mounted enemies.
  • Cavalry Armor - Increases Mounted Defense (Range = 1-40). Useless, as you are dismounted after one hit.
  • Wing Boots - Increases Jump (Range = 1-16). Useless, except for a niche use against elephant riders, which can be handled otherwise.
  • Seven Star Orb - Increases Luck (Range = 1-20). May improve item drops and seems to increase item drop quantity from regular enemies.
  • Elixir - Increases Musou Charge speed (Range = 1-20). One of two rarest items. Increases Musou gauge charge speed, useful for frequent Musou attacks and their invincibility.

Special Items

  • Red Hare Saddle
    • Effect: Start the stage riding Red Hare.
    • Method: Defeat Lu Bu on the Hu Lao Gate stage. A supply team will appear on Cao Cao's attack route around the middle of the map and head north. Defeat the supply captain. It's recommended to defeat Lu Bu after Cao Cao's group passes the Fan Shui Gate to prevent his allies from killing the supply captain.
    • Value: Very useful due to Red Hare's speed and power. Helps in stages requiring travel like Nanman, and for obtaining fourth weapons or other special items from supply teams.
  • Hex Mark Saddle
    • Effect: Start the stage riding Hex Mark.
    • Method: On the Chen Du Stage, defeat every enemy general except Liu Zhang. The item appears near Liu Zhang.
    • Value: Easier to obtain than Red Hare Saddle and almost as fast, useful for quickly reaching objectives.
  • Imperial Saddle
    • Effect: Can ride any horse, regardless of rank.
    • Method: Yi Ling stage, Shu side. First, defeat Zhu Ran to stop the fire attack. Then, defeat every other enemy general under Sun Quan. A supply team will appear at the entry point north of Sun Quan. Kill the Supply Captain and finish the stage. Defeating Lu Xun last is advised as he is closest to the supply team spawn.
    • Value: A waste. Horses up to rank 11 are fast enough for most situations. Red Hare or Hex Mark saddles are better alternatives for consistent horse use.
