Alright, let's talk about Quirks in Darkest Dungeon. These are basically little personality traits, good or bad, that stick to your heroes. Every new recruit starts with at least one of each – a helpful bonus and a pesky drawback. You'll pick up more as you go, either by messing with Curios you find in dungeons, or just by finishing a run. Even chilling out at the Tavern or Abbey can sometimes lead to a new Quirk!

Each hero can have up to five Quirks, positive or negative. If a Quirk isn't 'locked,' it can be swapped out. This can happen randomly when you interact with a Curio, or just at the end of a dungeon run. You can also take matters into your own hands at the Sanitarium. It's a powerful tool, but you can only lock away three Quirks at a time, so pick your battles wisely. Keep an eye out, sometimes those Curios can surprise you with something amazing!

Heads up: Locked negative Quirks, the ones with a little death's head symbol next to them, will cost you more to deal with. The price tag depends on your hero's Resolve level, which is tied to their experience. So, the higher level your hero, the more it'll cost to ditch that unwanted trait.

Now, the good news! There are ways to ditch Quirks for free, without even touching the Sanitarium, though it's often down to chance:

• Eldritch Altars: If you've got some Holy Water handy, try using it here.
• Piles of Scrolls: Got a Torch? Using it on these might give you a chance to remove a Quirk.
• Eerie Coral: This one needs Medicinal Herbs. Use 'em and hope for the best!
• The Confession Booth: Just interact with it – it's a gamble for a random removal.
• The Sacrificial Stone: Similar to the Confession Booth, it's a random effect, so cross your fingers!

Remember, managing these Quirks is a big part of keeping your roster healthy and ready for the next descent. Choose carefully which ones you lock away, and which ones you try to remove for free!
