Learn how to unlock and utilize the Doctor unit in Crusader Kings III. Discover their paralyzing syringe ability and how to summon them for strategic advantages.

Alright, let's talk about getting yourself a Doctor in Crusader Kings III. This isn't a direct unit you recruit from the start, but rather a special character you unlock through a specific series of events. Think of it as a unique advisor who can really turn the tide in a tough fight.

First things first, you'll need to have progressed far enough in the game to unlock the Royal City District. Once that's in your grasp, make sure you build the Royal School. This is crucial because later on, a representative from the school will approach you, asking for donations. You'll need to make a total of 7 donations, spread out in batches.

After you've completed the seventh donation, you'll get word that the kingdom's children have benefited greatly, and one of them has become a brilliant doctor. As a bonus, a new building, the Hospital, will pop up in the Glamour Town district. Keep an eye out for this blue building, it's usually right across from the theatre.

Now, to actually get the Doctor on your side, you'll need to hang around the Glamour Town district. Eventually, you'll spot the Doctor walking out of the hospital. When you see him, make sure to talk to him. Doing so allows you to summon him whenever you need him from that point on.

Just like some of the other unique units, there's only one Doctor in the entire game. While their base health isn't the highest, their real strength lies in their Paralyse specialty. They come equipped with an anaesthetic syringe that's fantastic for stunning enemies. When you send the Doctor after a target, they'll start spraying the anaesthetic. After a short period, they'll deliver a direct injection, which immediately stuns the enemy. This gives you a perfect window to send in your regular troops and take down the stunned foe with ease.

Heads up: Because of the time it takes to administer the anaesthetic, you'll want to make sure the target isn't already aware of you or your other troops. You don't want them to react before the Doctor can do their thing! Also, remember that the Doctor can only carry 30 doses of anaesthetic at a time. If you plan on using them extensively, you'll need to return to your kingdom to let them restock.
