EXPLANATION OF ENDINGS

Learn how to achieve all five endings in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, from the Worst to the Best, by following specific in-game actions.

Worst Ending:

1. Beat Richter as if he were the final boss without meeting other conditions.

The cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an event shown during gameplay) features Alucard speaking to himself, comparing Richter and Dracula to perpetual fighters.

Bad Ending:

1. Talk with Maria, and accept the Holy Glasses she gives you.
2. Do not equip the Holy Glasses.
3. Defeat Richter as if he were the final boss.

The cutscene has Maria asking Alucard if he saved Richter. Alucard, with a heavy heart, declares that he could not save Richter.

Good Ending:

1. Wear the Holy Glasses that Maria gives you.
2. Focus your attacks on the green orb that appears above Richter.
3. Break the orb.

This reveals Shaft as the mastermind behind Dracula's resurrection. A cutscene then reveals the Inverted Castle. Maria thanks Alucard for saving Richter. Alucard goes to the Inverted Castle because Richter believes the person who was controlling him is there. This ending is required to access the Inverted Castle.

Great Ending:

1. Achieve between 150-185% map coverage.
2. Beat Shaft and Dracula.

You will get the ending where Richter and Maria greet you and discuss the hard thing that had to be done. Alucard then leaves the world, never to return. Richter asks Maria if she wants to go after him, but she is indifferent and stays with Richter. This ending is achieved by getting the five Vlad relics and then fighting Shaft and Dracula after obtaining them, which should result in 150-185% map coverage.

Best Ending:

1. Achieve 185%+ map coverage.
2. Beat Shaft and Dracula.

This ending has the same cutscene as the Great Ending. However, when Richter asks Maria if she wants to go after Alucard, she says yes because she wants him to be in her life. She then leaves the screen running after Alucard.
