After Dracula's defeat, Alucard awakens. You gain control of him as he runs to make the castle drawbridge. Alucard's controls are similar to Richter's, but he lacks a run and instead has a back dash (Triangle button). Alucard is more durable than Richter, withstanding more hits.

Your first enemy is a Warg, defeated in one hit. Continue right to a dark room with windows. More Wargs appear. Avoid attacking candles for now. After the second Warg, lights turn on, and Zombies may emerge from the ground; be vigilant. Proceed right to a large open area. Bats will attack when you jump towards them. Strike the rocks to clear a path, obtaining a Pot Roast. Jump over the gap and proceed. The lower section of this room contains water that damages Alucard and respawning Mermen; ignore it for now.

The next room has three Wargs. Before entering the following room, bend down by the two blocks at the bottom right of the door stairs to find a Turkey. A cutscene with Death follows.

After this, you'll be stripped of your gear and must fight with your fists. Symphony of the Night features RPG elements like leveling up, equipping items for stat boosts, and increasing health and hearts. These elements are less complex than in games like Diablo or World of Warcraft.

Since you have no equipment, most items you find will be your best option. After the dialogue with Death, proceed right, climb stairs, and jump over a bridge gap to the next room.

In this room, you'll encounter a Skeleton Soldier with a sword and shield. It takes several hits but drops a Short Sword upon defeat. Equip it for a minor attack upgrade, though your fists attack faster. Continue upward; the room to the left is a dead end. You'll find another Skeleton that drops a Red Rust sword. This two-handed sword poisons you over time and has lower attack than the Short Sword, so it's not recommended. To the left across from the Skeleton is a Save Room, which fully restores health and magic but not status effects like poison.

After saving, proceed upward. At the top right of the room, you'll find your first relic, the CUBE OF ZOE. This relic can be toggled on/off in the menu and allows you to collect items from candles and other breakable objects. Enter the next area: the Alchemy Laboratory.
