This city has some new stuff.
Adventure quests, which are kinda your usual grindy mini quests. I have a section dedicated for them but they are mostly trivial and explained in the quest details. Those are actually MANDATORY to progress. You don't need to do them all, but plot won't proceed until you do enough of them usually.
Most of the time you can autocomplete them if you simply 100%ed the area and killed all enemies along the way of exploring.
Item Shop - this includes accessory shop. Accessories are equipment of this game. You have 3 slots and... that's it. You can equip same accessory multiple times no problem. Some can do something extra aside of giving stats, but this early stats are certainly the king.
Shop starts selling more stuff and gives tiny discount based on your adventure quest completion.
My recommendation - sell your 2 AP scrolls (should have 2 if you 100%ed first optional dungeon and the main dungeons) and buy 3 beast bangles. Equip them all on Eris. This makes her a powerhouse. If you don't have enough for 3 - sell something on top of those scrolls, probably some healing pots or something. Generally don't sell materials as they are needed for accessory enchantments and some quests. For accessories the early materials don't matter much however as they don't give anything too good.
It takes a while to actually fill up accessory slots with something decent if you don't purchase them. And they are more powerful in early game where they can literally more than double your offensive stats.
Beast bangles will last you for quite a few dungeons.
With all that said - accept the main quest via adventure quest board and proceed to Outskirts Cavern area 1.
This is the only area here. Your goal is the NW room where a cutscene will happen. After cutscene you can leave.
Area has no boss.
Once you are back in the city - another cutscene happens and you can report the quest.
If you are interested why story does not make much sense as you haven't found the cat - the gist is that those group of adventurers you found are the ones who kidnapped the cat, that's what they have been doing all along - doing stuff to force an easy quest they can autocomplete basically.
Stuff like this is usually mentioned in archive section in details about characters.
But story bits aside - report the quest and you are done. You can now accept adventure quests.
Assuming you have done enough of the quests from old areas - 2 new dungeons should have popped up.
