Learn the ropes of combat in Batman: Arkham Knight. Master melee, counters, takedowns, and gadget attacks to take down Gotham's criminals.

Alright, let's talk about fighting in Batman: Arkham Knight. It's pretty much unavoidable, and honestly, it's a lot like the older games. The key is patience – you're looking for those openings to lay into enemies while also keeping an eye out for their attacks so you can counter them.

Melee Attacks
This is your bread and butter for dishing out damage. In Arkham Knight, you can even grab weapons dropped by enemies to boost your melee damage for a bit. Keep an eye out for those opportunities!

Stunning Enemies
Need to get the upper hand? You can stun enemies by throwing your cape in their face, hitting them with a Batarang, or using Explosive Gel or a Smoke Pellet. Once they're stunned, regular thugs go down easy, and even those big Brutes become vulnerable to your melee attacks.

Counters
When you're in the thick of it, watch for that blue icon flashing above an enemy's head. Pressing the counter button right when you see it lets you pull off a counter-attack. You can even counter up to three enemies at once if they all decide to swing at you simultaneously. In big fights, seriously, keep an eye on your sides for incoming attacks. Seeing that counter icon means it's time to dodge or strike back!

Quick-fire Gadget Attacks
As you unlock more gadgets, you'll get more options for quick-fire attacks in combat. Each gadget has a special quick-fire mode, which we'll dive into more detail on later.

Takedowns
These are your finisher moves – instant knockouts. Most of them require you to build up a combo meter first, which you'll see on the left side of your screen. Once that meter is full, you can unleash some serious pain and take enemies out of the fight quickly.
