Monger Down

Learn how to defeat the Monger in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Choose between a public confrontation or a stealthy approach in his cave.

Alright, so you've got a lead on the Monger, one of those nasty cultists. You've got two main ways to go about this, and your choice really depends on whether you want a bit of a show or a more private, loot-filled encounter. First things first, you need to chat with Anthousa. You'll find her chilling at the Leader House in south Korinth. She's got a plan to take him down at the theatre.

Option 1: The Theatre Showdown

If you're feeling theatrical, agree to Anthousa's plan. Just head over to the theatre and wait for the Monger to show up. When he does, you'll have to deal with him and a bunch of his goons. Your best bet here is to quickly take out the adds first – they're weaker and will just swarm you if you ignore them. Use a flurry of swift attacks to clear them out. Once it's just you and the Monger, focus on bringing him down. Just try not to get cornered!

Option 2: The Cave Ambush

If you're more into a quieter approach and maybe grabbing some extra loot, Brasidas has a different idea: hunt the Monger down in his cave. The entrance is located southwest of the Temple of Apollo in Korinth. Head inside and follow the path until you hit a statue. A cutscene will play, introducing you to the Monger, and you'll also get a peek at where he fits in the Cult matrix. After the cutscene, it's go time. You'll be fighting the Monger and four of his thugs. Again, prioritize the weaker thugs first. They won't take much to bring down with a few light attacks or special skills. Once they're out of the picture, it's just you and the big guy. Evasion is your best friend here. Dodge his heavy attacks and immediately counter with your own combos. He doesn't have any surprise moves, so just keep at it. When his health gets low enough, he'll fall to the ground. You'll then have a choice to make about whether to kill him or not.
