So It Begins

Embark on your journey in Assassin's Creed Odyssey! Learn how to start, defeat early enemies, and make your first dialogue choices.

Alright, so you're diving into Assassin's Creed Odyssey, huh? Awesome! This first bit, 'So It Begins,' is where your whole epic adventure kicks off. You'll start by seeing the beautiful island of Kephallonia through the eyes of Ikaros, your eagle companion. It’s a gorgeous view, setting the stage for everything to come.

Your very first task is pretty straightforward: take down two guys sent by someone called Cyclops. Don't sweat it, the game will walk you through the combat basics with on-screen hints. Just get a feel for the controls – you'll be smashing enemies in no time!

After you've dealt with those initial baddies, you'll hit your first dialogue scene. This is important! You'll notice different options pop up, and while not all of them will change the main story, they can totally affect how certain characters, like bounty hunters down the line, see you. Generally, you'll be choosing between being nice or being a total jerk. Pay attention to those little icons next to the dialogue choices – they give you a hint about the vibe of each option.

Once you've said your piece, it's time to grab your gear. Head to the chest at the top of your house to collect your armor. Pop it on through your inventory. With your new threads equipped, you'll need to find Markos. He's chilling in the southern part of Mount Ainos. On your way there, make sure to wander off the beaten path a bit. Discovering new locations is a great way to rack up XP and snag some sweet loot.

As you get close to Markos' vineyard, you'll automatically discover the area and get 30 XP. This is also a perfect time to use Ikaros again. Summon him up to get a bird's-eye view of the area. Use him to pinpoint Markos' exact location, and then make your way over. The moment you reach him, a cutscene will kick off, moving you further into the story.
