Learn how to get new villagers, sway campers, and manage residents leaving in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Maximize your town's population to 10 villagers.
Walkthrough
- 1Towns start with 4 villagers and will randomly gain new residents until you have 9.
- 2You can acquire a 10th villager by inviting a camper to your town.
- 3Campers will appear at the Campsite Public Works Project if you have 9 villagers or less.
- 4Speak to a camper; they may offer to move into your town if you have 9 villagers or less.
- 5Some campers require multiple conversations or winning a mini-game to convince them to move in.
- 6When a villager has packed their boxes and is leaving, another player with 9 villagers or less can visit your town (via Local or Online Play) and convince that villager to move to their town.
- 7Conversely, you can visit another player's town and convince a villager who is packed and ready to leave to move to your town, provided you have 9 villagers or less.
- 8Villagers can also be transferred via StreetPass if they have left a town without a new home.
- 9If a villager decides to leave, they will give you 5 days' notice.
- 10You can convince a villager to stay by speaking to them before the 5th day.
- 11If you wish for a villager to leave, you can tell them to go, but they might stay anyway; saving and resetting can help if you want them to leave for sure.
- 12You can learn about leaving villagers from the villager themselves or from other villagers.
- 13On the 5th day, the leaving villager will be in their house with packed boxes; you can no longer convince them to stay, but another player can take them.
- 14If your 9th villager leaves, reducing your total to 8, a new random villager will appear after a few days to bring your total back to 9.
Tips:
- Some online communities facilitate the buying and selling of villagers when they are packed and ready to leave.
