Learn how to enact town ordinances in Animal Crossing: New Leaf! Discover the effects of Beautiful Town, Early Bird, Night Owl, and Bell Boom ordinances.
Hey there! So, you've been a great mayor and gotten a 100% approval rating? Awesome! That means you've unlocked the ability to set town ordinances, which are basically rules that change how your town operates. It's a super cool way to customize your experience!
To get started, just head over to the mayor's chair and chat with Isabelle. You'll see an option to ask her about town ordinances. Go ahead and pick that!
Just a heads-up, you can only have one ordinance active at a time, and changing it costs 20,000 Bells each time. So, choose wisely!
Available Ordinances
There are four different ordinances you can choose from:
| Ordinance | Effect |
| Beautiful Town | This is a great one for keeping things tidy. Cockroaches won't appear in your house, weeds will barely grow, flowers won't wilt, and your villagers will be more likely to plant and water flowers. |
| Early Bird | If you like to get an early start to your day, this is for you! Shops will open and close earlier, and your villagers will be awake and go to sleep earlier. |
| Night Owl | The opposite of Early Bird! Shops will open and close later, and villagers will get up and go to sleep later. Perfect if you play mostly in the evenings. |
| Bell Boom | Want to make more Bells? This ordinance makes shops buy and sell items at higher prices. Plus, Re-Tail will buy two of your items at a premium each day, and you'll earn more medals from Island Tours. |
Pro Tip: If you're going to be away from the game for a while, definitely set your ordinance to 'Beautiful Town'. It'll save you a ton of work clearing out weeds when you come back!
