Follow this guide to navigate the 'A Writer's Dream' mission in Alan Wake Remastered, including finding collectibles like Coffee Thermoses and Can Pyramids, and defeating the hitchhiker.

After the opening cutscene, look up to the light before heading up the road. The bridge ahead is closed but if you make your way past the "Bridge Out" sign, you will find a Coffee Thermos (1/100).

Damn Good Cup of Coffee / Hypercaffeinated
There are two trophies related to collecting coffee thermoses, one for finding 25 and a second for finding all 100.

Backtrack a short distance and head down the other path towards the lighthouse. As you do so, you will see the hitchhiker that Alan ran over in the earlier scene apparently get up. Start running down the path and you will pass a noticeboard.

Continue past the noticeboard and when you reach a barrier, jump (X) over it. Shortly afterwards, you will reach a fenced off area where the hitchhiker will catch up with you and attack.

At this point, you have to dodge his attacks (L1 + left analog stick as the hitchhiker goes to make an attack). You will know that you have executed a cinematic dodge if you do so in slow motion.

Float Like a Butterfly / Missed By a Mile
There is a trophy for executing a cinematic dodge, although you cannot unlock it now, and a second trophy for executing 20 dodges.

After you have dodged two attacks, the nightmarish figure will stop attacking you for the time being. Approach the gate that was blocking your way forward and it will now open.

Start making your way across the bridge. As you do so, the hitchhiker will appear behind you again. At this point, you should start running along the path. Keep following it until you see a friendly figure in the distance. Run across a second bridge which will collapse behind you. The man, Clay Steward, urges you to go into the nearby cabin. When you do, the door behind you will close and Clay will be cut down by the hitchhiker.

After a short while, the cabin will start to shake and you will take some damage. Stand by the other door and after a short delay, you will be able to leave. Once outside, make your way to the floodlit area which serves as a safe haven, restoring any damage that you have taken.

The way forward is apparently blocked but after some exposition, steps will appear. Go down and keep following the path until you reach another clearing where the hitchhiker menaces you again.

A disembodied voice explains how the hitchhiker has been taken over by the Dark Presence, enveloping him in a darkness which must be burned away before he can be harmed. At this point, you receive a torch. Press ◯ to pick it up and use the right analog stick to shine the torch on him.

If you want to speed the process up, you can use the L2 button to focus the beam, which drains the battery. If the battery runs out, tap △ to replace it. When the darkness has burnt away, the voice tells you that the hitchhiker remains a threat and must be destroyed. Illuminate the hitchhiker with your torch beam and press R2 to fire. If you run out of bullets, tap ▢ to reload. When the hitchhiker is killed, you will unlock the Follow the Light trophy.

Energized! / The Six Gun Scribe
There are trophies for using 100 batteries and killing 100 enemies with the revolver.

Search the dumpster to find more revolver ammo and look to the left to spot a Can Pyramid which you can shoot (1/12).

Carny
There is a trophy for shooting five can pyramids. I'm guessing that the trophy name should be "Canny" but has been misspelt.

The gate blocking your way will have opened so continue down the path. A second Taken will appear in front of you. Let him get a bit closer before dazzling him and killing him, otherwise he will fail and then come up behind you. After dealing with him, drop down to the path below where you will be attacked by two more Taken. At the end of the path, look for an emergency supply box where you will find a Flare Gun and some Flare Gun Ammo.

What Light Through Yonder Window / Come One, Come All
There is a trophy for killing 50 enemies with the flare gun and another for killing four enemies with a single flare.

After grabbing the weapon, look for a nearby concrete shelter that you can duck down into.

Drop down and pick up a Coffee Thermos (2/100).

Leave the shelter and drop down to the path. Continue a short distance and three Taken will appear in front of you. Switch to the flare gun and fire it at the one in the middle, taking all three of them out at once. When you reach the end of the path, two more Taken will attack you if you hang around. However, you can evade them by sprinting across a narrow bridge. On the other side, run across a road bridge ahead of a tornado which springs up behind you. As you make your way across, parts of the bridge will be destroyed so be careful not to fall to your death.

When you reach the other side, look for a Coffee Thermos (3/100) on a bench.

Keep going to reach the safety of the lighthouse. When you go through the door, you will see a short cutscene, after which Alan will wake up in his car. He and Alice will exchange some words and you will find yourself on a ferry approaching Bright Falls.
