Age of Mythology Part 18 walkthrough covering All Is Not Lost and Welcome Back missions, including tips for defending Gargarensis' attacks.
Walkthrough
- 1Once you begin to receive giants as reinforcements, head north. Gargarensis will use the Ancestors god power twice. You can flee or destroy them.
- 2Continue north and free the Hersir trapped behind a wall. Work at getting through to Eitri's forces.
- 3When the Taproot is below 1000, the enemy will break through the wall. Finish chopping through the wall with your dwarves.
- 4Bring Thor's Hammer Haft to meet the Hammer Head to achieve victory.
Tips
- Keep your Valkyries in their own group to concentrate on healing.
Walkthrough
- 1Head up the hill quickly and locate the nearest settlement to build your Town Center.
- 2Wall around the Towers leading up the hill and begin to hunt the nearby Elk.
- 3Once your Town Center is complete, you have 10 minutes before Gargarensis' army attacks. Build up your economy during this time, focusing on creating dwarves to mine gold and gatherers to chop trees, farm, and hunt.
- 4Scout using your heroes to locate the two relics and an additional settlement.
- 5Use your Ulfsarks to create additional houses, four or more Longhouses, and two Temples.
- 6Wall up the two passes to the north east and consider placing additional Longhouses at that location.
- 7Once you advance to the Heroic Age, place Hill Forts at the top of the pass with the Towers, as well as along each wall you have built to the north east.
- 8Create a second Town Center on the settlement near the second relic.
- 9Place the Healing Spring near the Hill Fort at the top of the path with Towers.
- 10Begin creating a mix of units, preparing to advance to the Mythic Age and upgrade technologies at the Longhouses and Armory.
- 11When your 10 minutes are up, you will need to defend for an additional 20 minutes.
- 12The enemy will come from various directions. Destroy any Underworld Passage used against you immediately.
- 13Counter enemy forces intelligently: use Heroes and Hersir against Myth Units, and Throwing Axemen and Trolls against infantry.
- 14If the enemy takes out a wall, repair it after clearing them out.
- 15Retreat to the Healing Spring to recharge when needed.
- 16Help will arrive in the form of Odysseus and several troops. Fight your way to the Yellow flags.
- 17You may attack and destroy the enemy city to the north west, or proceed directly to the Yellow flags, engaging or avoiding troops as you go, to find victory quickly thanks to Odysseus' army.
Tips
- Without a proper economy, you may not be able to defeat the enemy.
- Consider placing additional Longhouses at the north east passes.
- Research Forge of Olympus at the Armory for a discount on all other upgrades there.
Walkthrough
- 1Locate the transport containing your hero characters and drop them off on the nearby island to pick up the artifact.
- 2Return the heroes to the transport and scout ahead with your Pegasus.
- 3Head straight ahead and empty all transports near the lighthouse.
- 4Send Scarabs ahead as siege weapons to take down any Fortresses in the area, assisted by catapults.
- 5Bring down any enemy buildings in the area and use the rest of your troops to guard these siege weapons.
- 6Create a Town Center over the nearest settlement using your villagers.
- 7Farm or create a dock and fish to gain the necessary resources to advance to the Heroic Age.
- 8Create a second Town Center on the settlement directly to the north and continue to create villagers to harvest resources.
- 9Build a Military Academy and begin to create Hoplites.
- 10Follow the route back with your armies, destroying anything that gets in your way, as attacks generally sweep from the north and east.
- 11When blocked by a gate, build a Fortress before attempting to push through.
- 12Advance to the Mythical Age, choosing Hephaestus for his Plenty god power and the Armory upgrade.
- 13Research Forge of Olympus at the Armory for a discount on all other upgrades.
- 14Create four or five Military Academies and create swarms of Hoplites.
- 15Ensure you have researched all farm (or fish), lumber, and gold upgrades and have sufficient villagers if you are running low on resources.
- 16Once you have created swarms of 20 or more Champion Hoplites, send them in on a target to take it down quickly.
Tips
- Grouping Pegasus together will make them last longer when fired upon by towers.
- Don't worry about losing some units as your army is a mix that doesn't compliment each other well.
- You will need a significant number of villagers to gather the necessary resources.
- Hoplites do bonus damage to Hoplites, so focus on Champion Hoplites.
