Hey there! So you've heard about the "Boom" strategy in Age of Empires IV, huh? It's a super popular way to play, especially if you like building up a massive economy before going all-out on the attack. Think of it as building a fortress of villagers and resources before your opponent even knows what hit 'em.

Basically, the idea behind a Villager Boom is to focus on making a TON of villagers early on – we're talking at least 24 before you even think about upgrading to the Tool Age. While you're upgrading, you'll keep churning out those fishing boats from your docks. The goal is to spread out, get those walls up quickly in the Tool Age to keep the enemy's Bronze Army at bay, and then just keep making even MORE villagers and boats once you've hit the Tool Age. You'll be a bit slower to reach the Bronze Age than your opponent, but you'll arrive with a massive economy – like 40 villagers and boats instead of the usual 20-24!

You'll usually spot an enemy trying this strategy because they'll hit the Tool Age with a huge villager count (24+), they'll be pretty slow to upgrade, and you'll see their villager and fishing boat numbers just explode. This strategy really shines on maps with lots of water, like island or coastal maps, and it's particularly nasty with civilizations like the Shang, Phoenician, or Minoan.

Now, if you see someone else trying to boom, you've got a couple of options. The best bet is usually to either hit them hard and fast with a Tool Rush or Tool Blitz, or to push into the Bronze Age super quickly. You absolutely do NOT want to wait around and let a booming player build up their economy. Once they get going, their defenses become nearly impossible to break, and their offense becomes unstoppable. So, strike fast and hard!
