Learn how to defeat Genie Jafar in Wild Hearts with this guide. We cover his stats, weaknesses, and the best strategies to take him down.

Alright, so you've made it to Part 23! This section is all about taking on Genie Jafar. Don't let the 'all-powerful' title scare you; this fight is actually one of the simpler ones in the game.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Genie Jafar (First Encounter): HP: 750, Attack: 18, Defense: 15. Weak/Resist: N/A. Drop: N/A. Experience: 730.
  • Jafar (Normal): Attack: 18, Defense: 15. Weak/Resist: N/A. Experience: 600.

Phases:

  1. Jafar (Normal Form): When you first face him, he'll be in his normal form. He'll shoot a beam of fire from his staff, which you can avoid by hugging the platform he's on. He also uses an ice storm that's easy to dodge. When he starts whisking around in his void ball, Genie will begin attacking. You'll know he's about to swing because he'll yell something like, "hoping I don't hit you." Your best bet here is to chase Jafar and try to melee him. If you can't get close, spells work too, but he'll put up a magic shield if you cast too many. Don't worry, he'll still come into melee range eventually.
  2. Genie Jafar: After you defeat his normal form, he turns into the all-powerful genie. This is the main fight. The key here is to target Jafar's lamp, which Iago is flying around with. Just keep pummeling that lamp! Jafar will throw rocks and shoot fireballs, but they don't do much damage, and healing is pretty straightforward if you need it. There are moving platforms, but they actually help you by providing cover. If you can knock Iago out, he'll drop green orbs, making it even easier to damage Jafar.

Strategy:

  • Focus fire on Jafar's lamp during the Genie Jafar phase.
  • Use the moving platforms for cover against his ranged attacks.
  • Don't be afraid to use melee attacks when you get close.
  • Heal up if your health gets low; the fight isn't overly punishing.
  • After the first encounter, head back to the Treasure Room Save Point to heal before facing Genie Jafar.
  • After the first encounter, you receive an upgrade to Blizzard, making it [BLIZZARA].
  • After defeating Genie Jafar, you get an upgrade to Fire, making it [FIRA], [ANSEM'S REPORT 1], the Summon [GENIE], the [THREE WISHES] Keyblade, and learn the power of [GREEN TRINITY] (Trinity Ladder).

Post-Battle Exploration and Collectibles:

After escaping the Cave of Wonders via the Carpet (which isn't difficult), you'll want to head back to Traverse Town. Use [TRINITY LADDER #1] in the Storage area (via the Plaza) to find a [CHEST] containing an [AP UP].

In Traverse Town itself, land at the Accessory Shop and chat with Pinocchio. Use [TRINITY LADDER #2] to finally access the Synthesis Shop! Check the two [CHESTS] nearby for a [MYTHRIL SHARD] and [DALMATIANS 7, 8, & 9]. Grab the [POSTCARD #9] next to the fireplace. Now you can talk to the Moogles and learn about Synthesis. Mail that postcard for another [AP UP]. If you have time, it's a good idea to visit the 100 Acre Wood (Section [0501]) as well.

At the Olympus Coliseum, use Blizzara on the torches around the area to get a [HOLY-G]. You'll also find [TRINITY LADDER #3] near the rankings, which rewards you with a [MYTHRIL].

In Wonderland, head to the Rabbit Hole and use [TRINITY LADDER #4] to get an [ELIXIR]. Go to the Bizarre Room, shrink down, and find [TRINITY LADDER #5] in the chimney. Use it to find a [CHEST] with a [MYTHRIL SHARD] inside.

Finally, in Deep Jungle, disembark at the Jungle: Tunnel and climb to the Treetop. Use [TRINITY LADDER #6] to get a [MYTHRIL SHARD] and some green orbs. With these, you've collected all available items from previous worlds. Time to move on!
