Master Episode 9 of Valkyria Chronicles, "A Midsummer Incident." Learn the fastest strategies to achieve an A Rank, including a one-phase victory with the ZM MP 3(g) and shocktroopers.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Start with your strongest shocktrooper equipped with an armor-damaging weapon in the northern-middle area. Position Alicia, Largo, and Rosie elsewhere; their placement doesn't matter.
  2. 2
Begin your turn. Move your main shocktrooper west and take cover behind a box. You can move your tank to trigger a cutscene or for potential assistance, but do not use it to block the enemy's path as the game suggests.
  3. 3
End your turn. The enemy will move, potentially feigning an attack on your tank. Crucially, the enemy vehicle will move south only one block.
  4. 4
On your next turn, save your game. Select your shocktrooper, run behind the enemy vehicle, and circle around it. Heal if necessary and eliminate any units attacking you.
  5. 5
Aim for the tank's weak spot and attack. Re-select your shocktrooper as needed to continue damaging the tank. With 9 CP, you should have ample time to complete this in your first turn. Consider using a Damage order to speed up the process.

One-Phase Strategy (Advanced):

If you have the ZM MP 3(g) weapon and your shocktroopers are at least level 9, you can complete the map in a single phase.

  1. Equip a defense boost order on your shocktrooper positioned in the northeastern area.
  2. Move north towards a lancer and scout, ignoring them. Turn left and advance as far as possible.
  3. Heal yourself and end the turn quickly.
  4. On your next turn, re-select your shocktrooper, move to the back of the tank, and begin attacking. Position yourself behind the tank to avoid its attacks. Continue attacking until the tank is destroyed.
Tips
  • A Rank requires 5 units, but 2 are sufficient.
  • No leaders or aces are present, so focus on speed.
  • The enemy vehicle moves only one block at a time.
  • The enemy moves first, but this turn has no impact on your strategy.
  • Reinforcements will be called after three of your turns if you continue to block the enemy.
  • A Rank: 5 Units (2 is sufficient)
  • CP: 6
  • Leaders: 0
  • Aces: 0
  • Tanks: 0
  • Boss: 1
