Unreal Tournament 3 Part 16: Learn the tactical advantages of the Link Gun for team play, repairs, and defense, and master the Minigun's close-range power and accuracy.
Walkthrough
- 1Link Gun - Primary Fire (Link Beam): Deals damage and can link to allies. Linking to an ally boosts their Link Gun damage by 2.5x and changes their fire color to yellow. You consume ammo as if firing when linked, but no ammo is used for maintaining the link. Multiple players can link, with boosts going to the last person in the chain.
- 2Link Gun - Secondary Fire (Repair Beam): Used to repair allied Vehicles and Power Nodes. The beam changes to your team's color. It heals 3 health points per 1 ammo unit used at the speed of regular link beam consumption.
- 3Link Gun - Knockback: Can knock back people and vehicles.
- 4Minigun - Primary Fire (Burst Mode): Fires bullets rapidly and inaccurately. High rate of fire (180 rounds/10s) deals significant damage up close. Instant hit weapon. Requires significant dodging and movement to survive close engagements.
- 5Minigun - Secondary Fire (Aimed Mode): Fires more powerful bullets at a slower rate (60 rounds/10s) but with much better accuracy. Effective at long range.
Tips
- Link Gun Team Play: Always link to teammates with Link Guns rather than firing alongside them for greater combined damage.
- Link Gun Repairs: Link to teammates repairing objectives to speed up the process and save ammo. Repair allied vehicles before entering them, or hijack and repair enemy vehicles if possible. Repair damaged allied vehicles even during combat.
- Link Gun Node Construction: When attacking a Node, use all your Link Gun ammo to build your own Node before taking more from the locker.
- Link Gun Limitations: You cannot heal your own Power Core. The Link Gun is not effective for knocking back vehicles due to minimal effect.
- Link Gun Defense: The link beam can shoot down Redeemer and AVRiL missiles.
- Minigun Close Combat: In burst mode, fight from very close range due to inaccuracy. Constantly move, dodge, and jump. Keep firing even when missing, as the Minigun takes time to wind up.
- Minigun Long Range: Aimed mode is best for long-range engagements due to its increased accuracy.
- Minigun Mastery: Mastering the Minigun can make it preferable to the Rocket Launcher or Flak Cannon in many situations.
