Walkthrough: Just Keep Moving

Survive Tomb Raider (2013)'s 'Just Keep Moving' from the Solarii. Focus on swift movement and environmental awareness to escape the collapsing cavern.

Welcome, survivor! This section will guide you through the initial, harrowing moments after Lara's escape from the Solarii cult's clutches. Focus on quick movements and environmental awareness to survive.

The Crumbling Cavern

After the terrifying ordeal, Lara finds herself in a precarious cavern. Your immediate goal is to escape the collapsing environment.

  • Initial Descent: As soon as you regain control, Lara will be sliding down a rocky slope. Steer her left or right to avoid the jagged rocks and debris. Failure to do so will result in a quick, painful death.
  • QTE Escape: A quick-time event (QTE) will trigger as Lara approaches a chasm. Be ready to press the indicated button (e.g., Square/X for console, E for PC) to grab onto a ledge. Missing this will send Lara plummeting.
  • Wall Scramble: Once you've grabbed the ledge, immediately press the jump button (X/A for console, Spacebar for PC) to scramble up the crumbling wall. Don't hesitate, as the handholds are unstable.
  • Narrow Passage: You'll come to a tight squeeze. Follow the on-screen prompt to push through the narrow gap.
  • Falling Debris: As you progress, sections of the cavern will collapse around you. Keep moving forward; stopping for too long will lead to being crushed.

The First Camp: Coastal Forest Approach

After navigating the collapsing cavern, Lara will emerge into a slightly more stable, albeit still dangerous, area. This is your first opportunity to catch your breath and gather some essential resources.

  • Scavenging for Supplies:
    • Salvage Crate (1/3): Immediately upon exiting the cavern, look to your left. There's a small alcove containing a Salvage Crate. Collect the Salvage to upgrade your equipment later.
    • Food Cache (1/1): Further along the path, before you reach the main camp area, you'll spot a small, glowing pile of berries. Interact with it to collect a Food Cache, which provides a small amount of XP.
  • Establishing the Camp: You'll soon arrive at a makeshift camp. This is a crucial safe zone.
    • Base Camp: Interact with the campfire to establish your first Base Camp. This allows you to fast travel (once unlocked), upgrade skills, and improve your weapons.
    • Skill Point Allocation: You should have accumulated enough XP by now to unlock your first skill. We recommend investing in Survivalist under the "Survivor" category. This skill increases the amount of salvage and XP you gain from foraging, which is invaluable in the early game.
    • Weapon Upgrade: At the Base Camp, you can also access your weapon upgrades. While you don't have many options yet, consider saving your Salvage for later, more impactful upgrades.

Onward to the Coastal Forest

With the camp established, it's time to push deeper into the island. The path ahead leads to the Coastal Forest, a larger, more open area with new challenges.

  • Path Forward: From the Base Camp, head towards the glowing objective marker. The path is relatively linear here.
  • First Enemy Encounter (Optional Stealth): You'll soon encounter your first hostile Solarii patrol.
    • Stealth Takedown: If you approach carefully, you can perform a stealth takedown on the first enemy. Crouch (Circle/B for console, C for PC) and move silently through the tall grass. When prompted, press the melee button (Triangle/Y for console, F for PC) for a silent kill.
    • Bow Combat: If stealth isn't your style, or if you're spotted, engage with your newly acquired bow. Aim for headshots to conserve arrows and take down enemies quickly. Remember to scavenge arrows from fallen enemies and the environment.
  • Collectible Opportunity: After dealing with the patrol, explore the immediate area. There's often a Relic or Document hidden nearby, usually tucked away in a small crevice or behind some foliage. Use your Survival Instincts (L3/LS for console, Q for PC) to highlight interactable objects.
