Guide to Hyrule Castle in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Learn how to break in, meet Princess Zelda, and obtain Zelda's Lullaby.
Walkthrough
- 1Exit Kokiri Forest and obtain the Fairy Ocarina from Saria on the bridge to Hyrule Field.
- 2Travel through Hyrule Field towards Hyrule Castle. Be mindful of the time of day, as the drawbridge closes at night and Stalchildren enemies appear. If locked out, wait for sunrise.
- 3Inside Hyrule Castle Town, enter the first door on the right. Break pots for Rupees and a crate in the back for Gold Skulltula #4.
- 4Head towards the castle. After encountering Kaepora Gaebora again, roll into the tree he was on to find Gold Skulltula #5.
- 5The main gate guard will not let you pass. Climb the vines near where the owl was. Intentionally get spotted by the guard to be thrown out.
- 6Speak to Malon near the vines. She will give you an Egg.
- 7Crawl back into the castle via the vines, avoiding guards. Roll across the top of the gate and climb down the ladder.
- 8Open the door to get past the gate. Head up the hill to the guards' left, avoiding detection.
- 9Cross the grassy field to the left of the castle entrance and climb the wall to drop into the moat.
- 10Swim along the moat until you can get back onto dry land. Talon, Malon's father, will be there.
- 11Wait for sunrise for the Egg to hatch into a Cuccoo. Use the Cuccoo next to Talon to wake him up.
- 12Push crates into the water to stack them, allowing Link to reach a hole in the castle wall.
- 13Sneak through the castle, avoiding guards. If caught, you will be sent back to where Talon was found.
- 14Meet Princess Zelda, who will give you the Letter and teach you Zelda's Lullaby via Impa.
- 15Head to Kakariko Village and enter the Graveyard (southeast corner, past a narrow passage).
- 16At night, avoid Poe ghosts. Go to the back of the graveyard to the three tombs.
- 17Stand on the Triforce symbol in front of the tomb and play Zelda's Lullaby. A path will open.
- 18Enter the tomb, clear the first room of Keese to open locks, and proceed upstairs.
- 19In the next room, avoid ReDeads. Make your way to the doorway at the opposite end.
- 20Read the stone plaque to learn the Sun's Song, which allows manipulation of the time of day.
Tips
- Say you understood Kaepora Gaebora to avoid him repeating himself.
- If you get locked out of Hyrule Castle Town at night, stick to the path to avoid Stalchildren and wait for sunrise.
