Guide to obtaining the Fire Medallion in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Learn how to collect Big Poes, get the Goron Tunic, and navigate Death Mountain.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Return to the Castle Town Market and speak to the Ghost Shop owner.
  2. 2
Collect all 10 Big Poes scattered around Hyrule Field. Ride Epona through designated spots, shoot them with two arrows, bottle them, and return them to the owner. This rewards you with Bottle #4.
  3. 3
Head north to Ganon's Castle and collect Gold Skulltula #53 from a nearby pillar.
  4. 4
Return to the Temple of Time. Sheik will teach you the Prelude of Light, allowing you to warp back to the Temple of Time at any time.
  5. 5
As Adult Link, plant Magic Beans if you missed any spots and head to Lake Hylia. If you haven't already, make up the Scarecrow's Song.
  6. 6
If you have the Scarecrow's Song, speak to Bonooru in Lake Hylia as an adult. He will now appear in special places when you sing the song, creating Hookshot targets or making blocks appear.
  7. 7
Head to Kakariko Village as an adult. Stop by the House of Skulltula to claim Piece of Heart #21 for collecting 50 tokens.
  8. 8
Play the Town Shooting Minigame and achieve a perfect score to earn the Big Quiver.
  9. 9
Make your way up Death Mountain trail. Grab Piece of Heart #9 using the leaf if you haven't already.
  10. 10
For normal game players, enter Dodongo's Cavern. In the southeast room with Baby Dodongos, play the Scarecrow's Song when Navi turns green to grapple onto a high ledge and get Gold Skulltula #54.
  11. 11
On the second floor of Dodongo's Cavern, backtrack through the dungeon towards the room with giant stone steps. Use these steps to reach the ledge on the north side of the room to get Gold Skulltula #55.
  12. 12
Head to Goron City. Walk the tightrope towards the center platform and use your Hookshot to reach a ledge on the opposite side of the pedestal to get Gold Skulltula #56.
  13. 13
Stop the rolling Goron in Goron City by bombing him. He is Darunia's son.
  14. 14
After his introduction, he will give you the Goron Tunic.
  15. 15
Pull back the statue in Darunia's room to find a secret path into the Death Mountain Crater.
  16. 16
Equip the Goron Tunic and head to the broken bridge in the lower area of the crater. Cross the pit with your Hookshot.
  17. 17
Sheik will interrupt to teach you the Bolero of Fire.
Tips
  • The prize for 100 Gold Skulltula tokens is unlimited money, which is not very useful in the game.
  • If you are playing Master Quest, you will not be able to collect Gold Skulltulas #54 and #55 in Dodongo's Cavern.
  • When Navi turns green in certain spots, playing the Scarecrow's Song can spawn a Hookshot target, or the Song of Time can make blocks appear.
  • Bottle #4 (from collecting 10 Big Poes)
  • Piece of Heart #21 (from 50 Gold Skulltula tokens)
  • Big Quiver (from Town Shooting Minigame)
  • Goron Tunic (from Darunia's son)
  • Prelude of Light (Ocarina Song)
  • Bolero of Fire (Ocarina Song)
