Part 21 walkthrough for Super Mario Sunshine, covering the Manta Storm boss and the hotel ghosts.
Walkthrough
- 1The hotel grounds are covered in electric goop that hurts you on contact.
- 2Talk to the hotel manager (Pianta in red) to learn a manta ray silhouette caused the goop.
- 3Prepare to fight the Manta Storm boss.
- 4To attack the Manta Storm, spray it with FLUDD. It will split into two, then three, then two again, then four tiny ones.
- 5Each tiny ray takes one spray to defeat permanently.
- 6Warning: Touching any ray or goop hurts you. Stay under a hut or retreat to the beach.
- 7Coins can be found in huts or by spraying gooped beach for health.
- 8Use hovering or spinning sprays to attack the rays effectively.
- 9When only tiny rays remain, they turn purple and attack. Use spinning sprays until only a few are left, then hunt them individually.
- 10Defeating the last ray removes the goop (except from some Noki's heads) and a shine appears over a fountain.
- 11Episode 2: The Hotel Lobby's Secret: Talk to the hotel owner to enter the hotel, which is infested with Boos.
- 12White Boos can be pushed by spraying and defeated by jumping or diving on them.
- 13Red Boos are stunned by spraying and turn into platforms.
- 14Spray all red Boos around the totem pole and climb to the top to find a giant Boo statue. Jump into its mouth to warp to a bonus stage.
- 15You can break brick blocks by jumping from beneath them, watermelon blocks by ground pounding, and melt ice blocks by spraying them (though FLUDD is not available in this bonus stage).
- 16In the bonus stage, jump onto enemies to cross gaps or use spin jumps, triple jumps, or backflips and dives.
- 17Wall jump to the top after breaking brick blocks.
- 18Navigate a maze of sand blocks. The fork leads to a maze of orange, brick, watermelon, and ice blocks; the other path only yields 4 coins.
- 19Ground pound the lowest watermelon block for a 1-Up.
- 20Ground pound the watermelon block second-closest to the sand blocks to reach a gear platform.
- 21Walk against the gear's spin direction to reach the sand block sculpture and jump onto it.
- 22Use backflips to cross to the other side, avoiding the center hole, to find an enemy and a shine.
- 23Episode 3: Mysterious Hotel Delfino: Talk to the hotel owner to enter the hotel.
- 24A Yoshi egg is by the fruit counter and needs a pineapple. The fruit shop does not sell pineapples.
- 25The stairs to the third floor are open. A shine is in the pool, but you need proper swimwear to enter.
- 26Go to the third floor and enter the unlocked room.
- 27Go to the lobby and enter the men's room through the doorway with a brown Pianta.
- 28Jump onto the toilet in the last stall. Notice the ceiling is leaking water from the pool above.
- 29Jump to the pool in the room above. Look for a painting in the room shaped like a Boo.
- 30Spray the painting until it looks like a Boo, then jump through it to the next room.
- 31In this room, beat all Boos, including one disguised as a coin.
- 32Spray the four strange closets next to each other until they form a picture of a Boo on the side facing you (left arm, left body, right body, right arm).
- 33The closets unfold to reveal the next room.
- 34This room has two red Boos. Spray both, then backflip onto one.
Tips
- When fighting the Manta Storm, staying on the beach is safer than the huts.
- Use FLUDD's hover or spinning spray for better aim against the rays.
- In the bonus stages, be careful when crossing gaps.
- The maze in Episode 2 has a path that leads to 4 coins, but the other path is necessary for progression.
- In Episode 3, the Boo painting is in the room directly above the men's room.
- Ensure all four sides of the closets in Episode 3 are sprayed correctly to reveal the next area.
