Walkthrough for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition's 'Living Legend' questline, covering Call of the North, Breakthrough, and Over the Rainbow, including disabling the Brain-Scorcher.
Walkthrough
- 1Call Of The North: After events in Yantar, head to the Army Warehouses. Find Gatekeeper on a hillside northeast of the main base, near the Barrier. Talk to Gatekeeper, who reveals Strelok passed through recently heading north. This completes the 'Call Of The North' objective.
- 2Breakthrough: Immediately after speaking with Gatekeeper, you will be attacked by Monolith forces. Defend the area, utilizing cover and aiming for headshots. Freedom faction members will not assist significantly, and Gatekeeper's involvement is limited unless Monolith get too close. Once all Monolith are killed, talk to Gatekeeper again. He will redirect the main mission to align with the 'Disable The Brain-Scorcher' objective given by Sakharov.
- 3Over The Rainbow (& Disable The Brain-Scorcher): Gatekeeper provides radioprotectant drugs and advises you to enter the Radar region. You can undertake this solo or with companions; solo is recommended for this sequence. Gatekeeper also mentions Beard in Zaton (far north of Radar), but this is not part of the current mission. To advance, head to the Radar region.
- 4Entering Radar: The Radar can be accessed from Pripyat or the Red Forest. Pripyat is more difficult and offers no significant advantage. The Red Forest allows entry near the Bunker but requires navigating the Red Forest itself first. This guide assumes entry from the Army Warehouses. Wait for an emission and depart in the early morning for ample time.
- 5The Roads (Radar Approach): The Radar region is hazardous, with high radiation and hostile Monolith if approaching via the main road. The southern woods contain various mutants. Approaching via the road is recommended for potential loot.
Tips
- Weapons: A rifle suited for 5.56x45 ammo and a scope are essential. You'll find more weapons at Radar. Carry 200-300 rounds of ammo.
- Armor: Prioritize suits with high ballistic and radiation protection. Recommended options include the Woodland Exosuit (approx. 80,000 RUs), CS-5 Exosuit, or PSZ-10l Forest Battlesuit. Some Ecologist suits offer high protection but prevent sprinting. Keep your old suit and headgear in a stash.
- Miscellaneous: Acquire the Tourist Backpack if your suit allows. Bring a headlamp, first-aid kits, bandages, and anti-radiation/anti-bleeding drugs. Radiation protection is less critical inside Lab X-19.
- Companions: While you can take companions to Radar, the guide suggests going solo for this mission segment.
- Timing: Wait for an emission to pass before setting out for Radar.
